That's just about the cost for new construction. Retro-fitting I don't even see as possible unless you consider opening up every wall. EDIT: Well hang on, I was thinking of my home in AZ that is all electric and on a slab foundation. If it had a crawl space or an attic, that would help.

Yup. I just hit 111.9. Thanks for your help. Edit: I will say though, finding settings and changing them is very clear and intuitive in Win 7. My wife's win 8.1 is almost impossible to tweak. I'm not having fun finding the settings for her wifi adaptor. I'll keep at it.

In the system icons hidden in the lower right hand corner of my desktop, there is an icon that when clicked, allowed me to select 2.4 or 5 or both. I selected both and now my 5g channel showed up. I selected it and it seems a little balky, but speedtest is now 101.73. yay.

I renamed the 5GHz channel as you suggested but it doesn't show up as a choice as possible networks to connect to. But on a positive note, speedtest number is 76.33. I'm running Win7 if it matters.

Ok, I've been running speed tests off and on all day and just now, I reached 80.24, 73.71 and 71.75. Previously, I was between 36-47. It seems like the router (Asus RT-AC68U) is working properly. When I look at the settings, 2.4 and 5.0 are active and the idiot lights on the front confirm this...

    Shaving

Now then, one day I was looking for a lavender scented soap/cr?me and came uponthis. It was almost twice the price of what I usually spend but half of what other lavender products were going for so I bought it. It smells nothing like lavender. I have no idea what the scent is and I'm afraid it...

No, I've only tried the lime as it was recommended as being very fragrant, which it is, but it's no big deal in the lather department.

My router is AC and does both 2.4 and 5 but my laptop may be incapable of dealing with it. The laptop was new in 2007 and I don't know what wifi protocol it uses, if that's the right terminology. 50 mbps is OK, but they upped my bill $5 per month when they went to 100 and I'm not benefiting...

I get 100 with my ethernet cable but I only get 50 wirelessly. My limited knowledge in this matter tells me my computer(s) have some antiquated wifi hardware in them, or my router needs adjusting.

    Service Providers (Internet, TV, Etc)

Quick question? My provider says they're giving me 100mbps. With an Ethernet cable between my router and my PC (a Sony Vaio), I can get 100 or better. Wireless I get 50 tops. Where's the bottleneck? The internet is cable. The modem is a Motorola/Arris SB6141 and the router is an Asus RT-AC68U.

    Shaving

You might be right, but I enjoy the ritual too much to leave out one of the best parts. I shave after a shower but not before I whip up a bowl of something wonderful. I do notice however, that if I need to go back over a place on my neck, for instance, I need to first put some suds on the area...

    NAS

My needs are pretty basic. I want a place where I can store photos and data files (word, excel, musescore, etc) that is accessible from different computers in the house. Back-up is important. If my next laptop/tablet could use the NAS instead of an onboard HD, that would be a bonus. Any...

You can come back and insulate a metal door. I can't say if that's better or worse than a fiberglass door with insulation already installed.

I know I'm in the minority when I say this but I love to shave. I love mixing up a bowl of lather in a different fragrance everyday. This morning it was lime. I don't know what it will be tomorrow. I've got about seven or eight. Same with aftershaves. You can't have too many.

Chromecast - the new Google TV

I use my Chromecast to stream from Couchtuner exclusively. I like to let it buffer a few minutes before I watch an episode of whatever. Most (95%) of the time it works flawlessly. If it doesn't, it's usually shitty internet that can't keep up.

My wife had it done back in the day when they used scalpels, not lasers (we're old). I didn't want her to do it. It was too new but she went ahead and it was miraculous. Her eyesight has deteriorated over the years and she now uses glasses, especially for reading but we have no regrets about it.

The air purifier function of the Hyla is extremely loud, but that's because it's primarily a vacuum cleaner. You just leave off the attachments and turn it on. It knows to run for only 1/2 hour but you can roll it from room to room and it really does clean the air.

This is what we have.Hyla. All the air that comes through the vacuum is filtered through a bucket of water. 100% of dust, hair, mites, etc. is trapped in the water. When you're done, you dump the water down the toilet. You can run it as an air purifier during allergy season if you want. Again...

I don't get why you'd want a bagless vac in the first place. It's just a glorified shop vac complete with the dust cloud you get when you empty it. Put that shit in a bag, unclip the bag and throw it away. No muss-no fuss and no dust all over your trash can or clothes.
