    Veep

I accidentally discovered this show recently and I've been trying to catch up. I'm halfway through season 2 now. How is this show not more popular? It seems like no one talks about it! I swear to god, the noodle analogy, especially the end, had me laughing out loud more than anything has made...

    Gravy's Cooking Thread

Half the fun (for me) of cooking is going out and buying the ingredients; whether it's just to the grocery store or you make the extra effort to hit a farmer's market, picking your ingredients is a very enjoyable part of the process. I wouldn't want to be hand delivered the exact amounts of the...

I have a bad tendency to lean too far back. I've had some very, very close calls where I start to topple backward due to leaning too far back, but fortunately I've always managed to course-correct and regain balance.

It sounds like you're judging healthiness based on size, which is a horrible way to judge it. Just because a meal is "hearty" doesn't mean it's a calorie bomb or incredibly unhealthy. Like Itlan said, your dinners sound pretty reasonable. Oven baked chicken and rice is a perfectly sensible...

I'd say in addition to some kind of moderate exercise you should figure out exactly what you're putting into your body. You said "normal lunch" and "hearty dinner," but what do those mean? Spend some time using a site like Myfitnesspal to track everything you eat. It's not something you need to...

Did you roll, stuff, and seal each one by hand? I recently made some pelmeni (although they look more like vareniki, see the spoilered pic), and I ended up rolling out and stuffing nearly 60 of them by hand. It took forever, but it was totally worth it because they were delicious. I ended up...

    Vikings

This show needs more England. Eckbert has become the most interesting character on the show, and the vikings are boring and predictable. *Edit* And holy shit I just realized that King Horick was the dad on Grounded for Life.

    Supernatural

God, I hope it doesn't get picked up. The acting was terrible, the plot was boring, and the cliffhanger was stupid as fuck. I think this was the first episode of 'Supernatural' I've seen that I genuinely disliked. Every scene without Sam and Dean was just complete and utter garbage from start to...

How much of a calorie deficit have you been eating at? You mentioned thinking that your calorie deficit lowered your immune system and indirectly caused the shingles, but I can't believe that a small-to-moderate calorie deficit would have that much of an effect on a person's immune system.

Yeah but don't you have the 'drinking garlic butter' addiction? Anyway, after going through the donuts and potato salad I became disgusted with myself. I'm bringing the rest into the office today to let the herd of fatties graze on it.

Well, I'm already halfway through the donuts so I might as well continue and finish the rest off. I don't believe that food addiction is a real 'thing,' but damn if I don't have some kind of binge eating problem.

No, I said you need to have good internal health as well; i.e., good blood pressure, no problems with cholesterol, etc. That's a big part of it. Diet is the key to getting in shape. It doesn't matter how much jogging you do or how many push ups and sit ups you do if you're eating thousands of calories over your maintenance every day. Kettlebells are awesome because you can do some great full body compound exercises with them.
