Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

I don't know if it's a spoiler. Considering the narrator, it could be a lie.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Enlarge Person is okay. Legendary Proportions, on the other hand, is probably the second largest DPS increase buff in the game (behind Haste).

Got my just desserts for talking smack about the dungeon difficulty. Made it to floor 30 and ran into one of the lost heroes.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Enemy variety seems pretty good but I wish that skills played a bigger role and that there were multiple paths and more dungeon features. Something more like Nethack or Brogue (which are the peak of roguelike design).

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

So far the roguelike dungeon is sort of underwhelming. I'm playing on Challenging difficulty so that might be too low, but I'm at Floor 12 (character level 8) and have been able to breeze through it all without many issues. My party so far is a Two-Weapon Fighter, a Crossbow Rogue, a Smilodon...

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

That 3rd DLC sounds awesome. Hopefully there's plenty of variety in the endless dungeon. Never heard of Swordlords, though. Apparently it's some sort of prestige class? Would've preferred them to add Witch and Oracle first.

Spreadable TBN was like the main thing I wanted for DRK, I hope that's real. NIN stuff seems cool, but what I really wanted to see was the removal of TCJ, or allowing you to move while using it, it just doesn't fit the class at all right now.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

It's not that bad on NIN. If you clip a bit into your Ninjitsu, whatever. You're only doing Ninjitsu once every 20s. For the rest of the time, enjoy that skill speed. Also I forgot that the SCH SS buff exists, so it wouldn't be that interesting after all lol.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

AoE SS buff might be kind of cool, that's something we haven't really seen outside of AST AoE Arrow.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

I really don't like savescumming on a first playthrough because I feel like it cheapens the experience. Some stuff is unfair and can come out at you from left field (Chaotic players know exactly what I'm talking about) but otherwise the game is really cool when you accept the consequences of...

    Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)

That doesn't prevent them from connecting it to Sword/Shield though.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

I think the hardest thing for Pathfinder newbies is separating bad feats from good feats. For STR melee, always get Power Attack and Cornugon Smash. (If their CHA is low, get Intimidating Prowess too.) DEX melee, obviously you need Weapon Finesse, but if you're using a 1H weapon get Weapon Focus...

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Harrim isn't bad, his domain spells are just mostly garbage. With a high enough WIS modifier, the ring that gives extra channel energy uses, and maybe taking the Extra Channel feat 1-2 times, he can become a great healer. (And his ability to fight in melee means you can give him Outflank.)

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

There is no penalty for attacking at a close range with a ranged weapon in Pathfinder. There is a -4 penalty for using a ranged weapon to attack an opponent engaged in melee, but Precise Shot removes that penalty, which is why it's so important (for both archers AND arcane casters, there are...
  15. Kriptini

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Precise Shot works from any range. PBS only gives you a +1 to hit if you are 30 feet away or closer, but it's never been an issue for me because I generally keep my formations pretty tight for casting buffs/heals during combat or addressing flankers.

    Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)

The film is extremely faithful to the source material, even going as far as to expand on some concepts that were never fully-fleshed out in the game and maybe set things up for future games.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

A composite bow isn't going to matter for a Rogue until way later in the game when you're swimming in Strength enhancement bonuses from magical gear, and even then, you'll only get a +1 or +2 to damage (assuming an ability score of 7 STR base and a +6 or +8 STR belt).

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Get the Varnhold's Lot DLC right away and play it before the main campaign. It serves as a nice little preview of the game's events without any major spoilers and will allow you to try out a build around the middle levels before you commit to it for your main campaign. Depending on what you do...

    Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)

The movie is solid. Of course, Ryan Reynold's performance is responsible for probably 75% of that, but Justice Smith plays off him really well too, it's sort of a classic straight man/goofy man pair which is never tiresome when done well (and I think it is in this movie). Great movie to take...

2 years later... the almost sad state of MMOs in the new era

All of those things came way after when they swung too wide and missed everyone (aka update 1.0); ArcheAge was dead long before equalized vehicle speeds and P2W.

2 years later... the almost sad state of MMOs in the new era

We need to take the "massive" out of MMORPG. We need to build games and worlds to a more modest scale. Instead of trying to catch everybody and their sister with catch-all gameplay elements, focus on elements that will appeal to the niche of gamers that like to play one game for long periods of...

The description for Gilgamesh is revolting. It hasn't been the raid server since 2.5, before the massive influx of server trannies. Yeah the clear rates here are still pretty good but the majority of the server are bads pretending they're good at the game.

"OT" in XIV just means tanky DPS, and sometimes you eat a tank buster. It's very rare that the OT actually needs to tank something.

What if I told you that Japan hasn't had any relevant world firsts in years? In fact, for the past few tiers, they weren't even in the top 3. This has more to do with culture and ego than it does meta. In Japan, you are expected to better yourself if the group is underperforming; it is...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Grit is on the GCD which is why I absolutely hate clicking it for mitigation. I usually prefer to use TBN + another CD since that's basically the same thing, though I will click Grit on during emergencies. I try to push DPS as a tank because it's just so boring otherwise. (PLD is the most...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

DRK has a really solid trash pull rotation IMO. Start with Grit and Blood Price on, use Unleash until you have all the mobs gathered and positioned, then turn off Grit, activate TBN and spam Abyssal Drain, when you get low on MP pop Blood Weapon and Quietus and that will pretty much refill your...

They were probably just being a little bitch. As long as the tank is holding aggro, the only thing an undergeared tank means for a healer is that they have to press their 1 button harder.
  31. Kriptini

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

This is not my experience on Gilgamesh/Aether. The only time I've seen a healer queue better than a tank queue is for 24-man raids.

We could actually have a really decent FoH community in this game if we weren't split across different data centers.

    Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Loving this game, I'm up to the Varnhold chapter now and it's been an absolute blast. Some things I've noticed: -Delay Poison Communal (3rd level Cleric spell) is insane for this campaign. So many creatures that would otherwise annihilate you with ability damage can't do shit while that spell...

There are normal Lalafell voices that don't sound like nails on chalkboard but most people don't use them because... degeneracy.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

The MSQ is honestly just too slow-paced to keep my interest now. I used to listen to all the voice acting during cutscenes, but now I just skip as soon as I'm done reading.

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

It's an epidemic. These people are a lot more widespread than just Balmung. FFXIV has one of the most degenerate MMORPG communities in history and the keynote has made me happy if for no reason other than schadenfreude. I wish they would unsub over this, but they won't, because they can't go two...
