The jumping definitely felt bad after destiny, it felt like a hop.

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

Google Chrome. You aren't going to see 4k 60fps from cloud gaming, for the near future this is going to be the low-end option. The downloads for games are already monstrously big, I did some math a while ago looking at Netflix other than their higher tiers people will probably come out ahead...

Apex Legends new free to play battle royale game from Respawn

The team thing is about as bad as you'd expect, my first game some moron using open mic and just coughing into it, jump forwards 2 minutes into the game they both decide to use Skype and quit leaving me alone. Followed by the typical battle royale experience of spending 10-minutes looting before...

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

Usually they would come in with a novel features, but the problem is that paradoxically we the consumers aren't actually the store's customer - the publishers are. I'm not a lawyer, but I something I've wondered is whether Epic's discount for Unreal Engine users might cause them legal problems...

    Bioware's "Anthem"

Yes... and no. I'm not up in arms about microtransactions, but I do worry that many of the people buying these are not well adjusted adults. They're probably a) kids, b) some poor bastards with fucked up brain chemistry, when you look at it from that perspective the pricing seems predatory.

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

Its been pointed out multiple times what the problems are: terms of service, returns, reviews, friends list, etc. etc.

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

Patents are an entirely different concept and frankly its laughable you'd think that is an apt analogy.

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

That is a completely absurd statement - exclusivity prevents competition. In an ideal world we wouldn't even have the agency model (price set by publisher) for digital downloads and stores would pay a wholesale rate so we could have price competition in addition to terms. Intrusive how? I find...

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

I know, that is why I said when they started. It was blatantly obvious they would do deals for exclusives because that is how platforms always end up working. How so? You need to trust that it will be there, be not intrusive, has your friends list, etc. A synonym here would be frequent.

Epic Games Storefront - A Good Incentive for Piracy

It was always going to happen this way, from start Epic made no bones that they were competing against Steam for developers by fees, not that they were competing for you the user. The only answer is vote with your wallet, buy it from the store you support. If Steam users simply pirate the title...

They don't seem terrible to me, aside from Nehaz being his normal irritating self. Though host's style does look like a hipster selling used cars as well.... They really needed a NA major this year with China hosting TI. A lot of the events last year and this year are occurring overnight on the...

Its funny that was my recollection of the last TI, people were talking about how great OG looked and I was like Really? The entire tournament, but particularly the end looked like teams throwing. I wondered if it was ultimately just the patch that made the games look that way. Watching the...

Artifact - The DOTA Card Game

As soon as people started talking about draft mode and packs a few months ago my spidey sense started tingling. I'd hoped they'd come up with a novel pricing model but it seems like they managed to combine the worst of gaming monetization with the worst of CCG monetization. When you consider...

Artifact - The DOTA Card Game

This is what occurred to me a couple months back when they started doing reveals - with the extended alpha period Valve has essentially picked the winners in the content space. Similarly for the competitive field I have to imagine players who have had access for a year (or more?) have an immense...

Artifact - The DOTA Card Game

Is it? Or is it just that people who have been in the alpha eventually got bored of playing with and against the same constructed decks in the small player pool? How much of that is simply lack of familiarity with the game and the cards?

    Disenchantment

I thought about it a while after watching the show and my conclusion was that the issue is that non of the characters in Disenchantment are actually likable.

I think he's been fine, while he's the 1 for Optic they don't play around him much and favour 33 & CCnC so its hard to look at his performance IMO.

People talking about how many heroes have been picked.... 24 of them have won 0 games. The International 2018 - Heroes Also Huskar is 1 win 6 losses (Liquid contributing 2)

    DOTA 2

Meh, its based on what they see in games and what players say to them. In fairness I have also heard some caster say something along the lines of EG and a few other teams are able to extend the laning phase when behind. EG has long relied on being better players than their opponents.

    DOTA 2

Can't say I would have predicted EG looking like the best team at TI. When I was looking at the standings earlier I was surprised to see OG near the bottom, they looked pretty good in every game but I guess they've just been saddled with playing all the best teams first.

EG looks quite a bit better than the other teams, though I don't think how they're playing is good enough to stand up to Liquid or VP.

I feel like they're misleading themselves by providing the bots with perfect knowledge (programmatic access to inventories, hero positions, etc.) and perfect control. They reference real world applications but most real world problems deal with imperfect knowledge and imperfect control.
