The new Gen has started: Where do you stand?

Gaming laptop and probably a WiiU sometime next year. A small chance of a PS4 if I have a ton of cash laying around and nothing else I want to spend it on. Nintendo exclusives (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc.) are the only consoles games I feel Ineedto play and miss out on majorly if I don't. For...

    Path of Exile

Trying to figure what to do with all these rares I have in my stash. I've tried to sell em on the trade channel (most level 30-50), but haven't been able to get rid of anything. Don't know what is worth keeping or what I should just vendor. Same with gems. Also, is it normal having the same...

    Smartphones

On the fence about what new phone to get. As I've recently returned from being overseas for a while I've been using a prepaid cheap-o phone for the past few months and finally need to buy something decent. I was looking at the HTC One and Galaxy S4 for a while, then turned my eye on the LG...

    Steam Deals and Digital Sales

Left 4 Dead 2 for $5 in the next 18 hours on Steam. Was one of the people that boycotted the 2nd one (lol) because of broken promises from Valve, but at $5 I might give in finally. This game still worth it? Bah, all those games for Halloween special but no Dark Souls? Might have to pick up a...

    Dark Souls 2

I think I'm more inclined towards Bioware's style of single player RPGs. A strong (though somewhat linear) story and interesting characters, but still quite a bit of freedom to play it your way. KOTOR would probably be my favorite of all time followed by Witcher 1 & 2, Mass Effect, then...

    Dark Souls 2

Hmm, not too sure how I feel about that. Gameplay looks great, but I might need more of an incentive to see everything through. I mean, that's what I look for in MMO's, but in single player games it starts to drag after a while.

    Dark Souls 2

In comparison with Skyrim and the Elder Scrolls games? I stopped playing Skyrim after about 20 hours or so, and I've never finished any of the others.

    Dark Souls 2

Hmm...Dark Souls on Steam or a new pair of khaki's. Also, how's the story in the first one? I tend to lose interest in RPG's when the story is weak and it feels like I'm just running around with no goal.

    Path of Exile

Anyone get a chance to play a Templar? Looks like it could be fun as I typically play paladin like characters in most RPGs, but I'm worried it might be too slow. I'm torn between this and a Shadow.

    Path of Exile

These new leagues will have the same rules as the legacy ones? Couple other questions: How long does it take for an average playthrough of all 3 acts? Possible to gimp your character with that massive skill tree? Sometimes I don't care to look up builds and like to just choose whatever...

    Fall 2013 Anime Thread

Kill la Kill - Judging by the first couple episodes I'd say it definitely has the potential to meet or even surpass Gurren Lagann on the epic ridiculousness scale if they keep pushing it. Everything feels very familiar. If the story is nearly as good, I suspect we'll have another masterpiece on...

    Fall 2013 Anime Thread

Since Eureka 7? No Death Note? FMA: Brotherhood? Lagann? Steins Gate? Most Fall shows are only a couple episodes in, too. Can't tell anything from that. Despite the fact the story synopsis seems to be exactly the same as SAO, Log Horizon looks like it could be something great.

    Fall 2013 Anime Thread

Was about to say the animation looks exactly like Gurren Lagann's, then I saw it's from the same team. Hope this turns out good. And I expect good things from Ippo as usual.

Which MMO *DO* you actually play now?

How are they not MMO's? Devs in both games have said they will allow hundreds of thousands of players to share and occupy the same universe on a single shard. The only difference is that the server will work to place players with others they've played with or encountered before in the same space...

Which MMO *DO* you actually play now?

Nothing. GW2 many moons ago, but only because it was free. Hoping that either Star Citizen, EQNext, Archeage or Shroud of the Avatar will breathe life back into the genre as truly next generation games. I refuse to play anything with a traditional leveling system anymore.

    Gravity (2013)

Yeah, I'll agree that the lack of any story is what keeps this movie from being truly amazing. It definitely draws you in visually and aurally, but not enough depth to make me really care about what happens to the characters. I feel were they on some important mission when everything goes wrong...

    Career ideas...

I still can't understand how anyone could see accounting as a desirable profession for reasons other than money. Accounting was the worst, most boring subject I've ever had to endure. I'm pretty bad at math, but I can still appreciate the concepts taught in Calculus and Trigonometry, and the...

    Riddick (2013)

I watched Pitch Black and Chronicles again right before this and I thought the pacing was way too slow, and the payoff not that great in this one. The whole setup of the mercs trying to find Riddick felt like it dragged on for ages. All that should have happened within the first 30 or 40...

    Now You See Me

Any movie that involves magic and attempting to fool the audience I inevitably compare to The Prestige. Now You See Me is entertaining enough, butisquite cheesy when it tries to be comedic or suspenseful, and is no where in the same realm of quality as The Prestige.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Maybe not doomed to fail, but definitely nothing I would truly accept as a great film. Scott Pilgrim was pretty enjoyable, but it is extremely niche. Having vs. as a title of anything is pretty much admitting your main focus is on action and explosions, rather than a solid compelling story. It's...

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Any movie title that has "vs." in is it doomed to fail for me. And how do Batman and Superman fit in the same universe again? It's bad enough they're releasing another movie involving Bruce Wayne so soon that doesn't involve Nolan or Bale or anyone that was involved in making that trilogy great...

    EQ Never

I think them getting rid of levels is what will make EQ Next successful ultimately. This recent crowd MMO's (the past 10 years) have yet to break players from the mentality of needing to rush through the game. And it's gotten worse because developers assume the following: 1) The casual crowd...

    Riddick (2013)

Yes, needs Necromongers. At least I hope they'll be involved in some capacity. I also wonder how they're going to explain what happened at the end of Chronicles of Riddick. I mean, he became the leader of the whole Necromonger army at the end. They'll have to do a huge opening covering from...

    The Hobbit

Just watched part of the Return of the King and it made me realize The Hobbit also suffers from not having enough diverse and interesting characters that people care about. I don't even remember the names of any of the dwarves. I know this is mostly story about them, but too many on screen at...

    The Hobbit

Thought this as well. Especially the last moments. Felt like they were desperately trying to one-up Sam by forcing all these cheesy dialogues. Though it might have to do with the fact that LotR had more star power and better acting overall.

    The Hobbit

I'd have to agree with all of this. Think they went a bit too far with the comedic characters as well. I never really felt any of the group were in real danger because the action scenes were quite ridiculous. It really was like a Disney production at times. Take a look at the cave troll scene...

    China

I really liked Yangshuo, but it will still be touristy like most towns of a similar type. I would say it was less so than Dali and Lijiang, though both are still definitely worth the visit. Kunming is a great city if you are looking for something a bit more modern, but not overwhelmingly large...
