One of the two alts I have has an extremely strong use case and I'm not really worried about it surviving. The other I have theoretically has a very strong use case, but I'm a little less confident about it surviving a crypto winter.

BTC and ETH aren't going anywhere and holding them long will eventually get you back in the green, even if we are descending into a crypto bear winter. You can get killed on alt coins during a crypto winter though. Dozens and dozens of popular alts during the last crypto bull run disappeared...

Well, I'm using @Sanrith Descartes definition of "intrinsic value" for the sake of this conversation, but for the record ALL value is subjective.

Even if you want to try and separate crypto coins from the tech (which you really can't), crypto would still have intrinsic value because the coins are backed by the tech, which, as you have acknowledged, has value.

In this case, and in most use cases, the coins and the tech are inseparable.
