Yeah, developers need to stop trying to compete with WoW. Let WoW be WoW, do your own thing in the MMO genre. Kind of why I'm interested in Crowfall, Shroud of the Avatar, Albion. There's room for so much craziness in this genre, it's just waiting to be taken advantage of.

In Tri I farmed Brachydios for over 10 hours to get what I needed. It's like EverQuest all over again.

EQII is old, ugly as sin, and convoluted. Same with EQ. There should have been a new EQ to put them out to pasture.

Why couldn't they just add the dynamic mob thing to EQ3? That alone would have been pretty amazing. God damn it, someone learn Unity so we can make our own EQ. Christ. Maybe the voxel engine will make a couple of strides before release. I mean it's at least 2 or 3 years out.

I think if someone were to make an MMO like that again, they'd have to advertise it like Dark Souls was advertised. You have to make it a point to tell people, "you're going to die, its what happens in this game, it's made to be hard as fuck to the point of being unfair." These days, kids...

My concern is mostly a dead world because the world itself is just a means to getting max level. That's the big problem.

I don't know. All I know is that with levels, you always end up with the whole player base at max level doing the same shit they've done in every MMO, and empty low level zones where the game is basically a REALLY shitty single player game for new players until they hit max level. I think...

Honestly I don't know if levels are a good idea these days. Usually what happens after a few years is your newbie zones are empty, and new players are left with no one to play with. I'm okay with no levels, but it depends on how they do it I guess.

Would be nuts if the new owners pushed for them to release the old version of the game as EQ3 or something.

You'd be surprised I think. At least with EQ fans.
