I tried softcore at times but I just can't do it without that extra thrill of hardcore. It makes it so much more fun to have something on the line, I can't go without it.

Alch a few maps at a time, put them in your stash and search for 'of elemental' (or 'of physical'....). In general though, once you start getting up in map tiers in hardcore you should be having a quick scan of every map, make sure theres no reflect and not too many damage mods.

You'd have to have muted 'sound effects' in game. Also a lot of people have been editing a text file to shut down all the sound for a performance increase.
