The economy for the event is completely seperate from the HC league too so everyone starts on a even footing. You can only trade stuff with other people participating in the event. Once the event is finished, your event stash and character and everything on him gets moved to the HC league

Yeah, even if you die during the event, your char gets moved to the Hardcore league
