I think that's what everyone is frustrated with. When everything is working, it's actually a fun and pretty game. From SE's point of view, they got that going for them because when nobody's bitching, nobody cares and when nobody cares, game = dead.

It means they don't have a handle on how much server requests the instances can handle before the whole infrastructure craps the bed. How this wasn't modeled before this weekend I have no idea.

I'm in, showed a 238 queue on loading screen, went away for a minute and got me in. Their queue window is BS I think.

I agree, they should be using queues like every other game that has had load issues. At least it would give a sense that some progress is being made to try to get into the server.

Sitting in a queue for 4 hours (ala Rift with a queue of 2000 on launch day) is the same thing as this = your not playing, your sitting at the screen waiting to get in.

The root cause of all this is server load. Those games you listed also had server load issues but were dealt with in different ways (queues, etc). They all prevented from the player from playing the game. You need to refresh your history, this isn't a new or unique problem to SE.

Yea this is par for the course for MMO's. EA, with the shitload of money they got, had launch issues and their solution was to throw a shitload of servers at the problem. Didn't help there either. Rift/Tera/Aion had epic queues on launch day. All of these games launched in the past 5 years...

Yea you can't base the needs of the guild on a few who either can't make a character in gilg or today's events. Obviously if it becomes a long term issue ( say a week ) where most of us can't get on, then a decision needs to be made but not now. I've been on and off today with minimal issues...

You are probably right. It puts up the queue box, then after a minute tries to load and you either get a 10103 error or 90000 error. I think it's funny how it alternates from putting you in a queue only to give you a 10103 error, or straight up bypass the queue and give you a 90000 error.

I rebooted the client, got the character select to come up, and first got a 'World data can't be loaded' error, retried and got a queue that said 74, after a minute loading screen comes up and I get a 10102 error. I got to play some today, so I can't complain and I also can't say I'm surprised...

I registered both the preorder and the 20-digit code late yesterday afternoon with zero issues and I assume I'm pre-registered (where do I go to check that?) but I haven't gotten any email from SE.

Game isn't live yet. Early access is the 24th but you can't even register for that now with a pre-order since pre-order registration is down.

What's weird is the eu and the na account pages for my account show FFXIV as registered. The SE account page shows the region as 'the americas'. When I log in to the FFXIV main page and go to account settings, it goes straight to the eu page. I think that is where the problems are. I wonder...

The problem for me is I never got a EA code. Just the message saying try again later and showing registered (although on the SE eu account page). I got to assume it didn't take. I have high hopes for live lol.
