PLTR and GMHI have been a fucking rollercoaster today, PLTR just bounced by from 24

    Investing General Discussion

Yeah, I set my stop for 20% right now. I also finally sold my GMHI puts 10 strike and rolled it up to 15 strike, was able to get 2.00 a share for 12/18 expiry, pretty crazy

Here's a good article analyzing GMHI/Luminar's potential value https://seekingalpha.com/article/4391832-gores-metropoulos-merger-luminar-is-play-on-lidar-mobileye?mod=mw_quote_news TLDR: GMHI has a good entry point at up to 17$ a share

I considered it but GMHI is lacking in call strikes, 12/18 only goes up to 22.5 which is only 50% in two weeks. Considering it's momentum that's certainly not out of reach.

    Investing General Discussion

I'm pretty much doing the same thing, I've been pretty aggressive with my puts lately and still haven't been assigned, trying to get between .5 to 1% return on a weekly contract. My common plays the last couple weeks have been: PLTR AMD PINS SNAP SAVE LITE DAL GMHI MP Thanks @Sanrith Descartes...

In order to sell covered calls, go directly to the option chain for the stock you want to put the covered call on, and then select "sell to open" for 1 contract, input your bid price want, and fidelity will automatically reserve your shares for you. You don't do anything directly through the...

    Investing General Discussion

You already paid the premium for the calls, so any changes to the bid/ask won't affect you unless you want to sell the calls before they expire. You bought the right to buy pltr at 33, so the calls will only pay off if pltr goes over 33

    Investing General Discussion

Did you buy calls or sell covered calls?
  13. Fogel

    Investing General Discussion

You already paid or received the premium at whatever price your put your contracts for. The bid/asks will continue to fluctuate based on how the stock is doing versus how long the contract has to expire. You can always buy or sell your current contracts if the bid/asks go in your favor
  14. Fogel

    Investing General Discussion

The bid/ask price will change based on if the stock is up and down, so if you think the stock price will move in your favor you can set a limit order for a better premium. Just keep in mind time is also a factor and will also bring down the bid/ask

Yeah I bought a put on GHMI last week for 12/18 that can be closed early this week at this rate. I'll take that free money any day. Also you haven't made a call for PLTR to break 20 yet @Sanrith Descartes , I am disappoint!

    Investing General Discussion

So GMHI is still going parabolic yet the 12/19 20 strike call is now at 0.95. I'm assuming it's due to the higher volume its now getting

    Investing General Discussion

Looks like limited call options on GMHI, the 20 strike 12/18 at .45 looks tempting though. Wish there was something a bit higher though

    Investing General Discussion

Yeah, they give you everything like a buffet, and then you decide which strike/premium to go with. This is PLTR expiring 11/27 If I sell to open @ 17, I'd collect 35 dollars per option contract (100 * .35) and if by 11/27 its still above 17 I keep the 35 and the option expires. Or if the...

    Investing General Discussion

Correct, though technically you'd be selling puts in that instance, and specifically it's cash covered puts since you reserve the money needed to buy the shares if you're actually assigned, which most trading platforms will do automatically.

So this is officially my first full month selling puts. The above was with about 30k cash reserved for selling puts, which I pretty much maxed out every week. Made $1967 in premium, which is about 6.6% in one month. I only had 6 puts actually assigned - Two DAL at 31 which I was able to sell on...

    Investing General Discussion

Or the other benefit that if the stock goes up you can close the option way early for pennies freeing up your capital and still keeping the premium
  35. Fogel

    Investing General Discussion

Yeah, I view cash covered puts as nothing more than setting limit orders on stocks you wanted to buy anyway with the added bonus of the premium you receive. So using this method is no different then buying stocks out right. Only down side to options is you have to buy in 100 share contracts.

    Investing General Discussion

Right now I'm about 50/50 puts/indexes. While technically not cash, I've been cautious enough that not many puts have been exercised, and the ones that have I've still been able to sell for a profit within a week or two. The market has been going kind of sideways the past month, which is great...
