Those nodes you just noted are closer to shadow. The 8% chaos resist is 1 point closer to shadow then witch. And shadow has more nodes at the start. Which accounts for any other distance. Straight line from start to "spell power" is 10 nodes, and still have 2 or 3 to get to the second ring...
