I don't think any of us care until they actually have a pre-alpha version to show people... let alone secure enough funding to actually finish this thing.
Is this new campaign really that much better? I was so disappointed by the original... I only got like ~3 hours into before I quit. The engine just felt much too limited, there was no exploration; the old SNES version had more freedom than it did.
The KS was just a complete letdown and further cemented the notion that Brad & co. can't manage anything. But you'd all still come crawling back if they somehow pull it off in the end.
Some new screens. Maybe its because I've played the Wildstar beta lately... but I like the fact that it's not flashy or over the top. Just enough brown.
There's no way this game is getting made without a publisher. So who would publish it? Not SOE for sure. Trion just had layoffs. And NCSoft tried it once with Garriott and failed. I just don't see it.
New piece of info on Teleporting:
There will be "pockets of energy" that certain classes can use to teleport to other "pockets". However, they are dangerous to use and could be guarded by non-trivial Mage mobs and/or teleport you to a dangerous section of the world. They could also give you...
LFG systems never work out, a global chat channel for finding groups would be preferable. The LFG system in Vanguard was hardly ever used, it was only useful for getting a list of people for your level range and then whispering them. I know some people hate global chat channels but I think it's...
Also thought he handled the VG question well... except he has never elaborated on why the game's code was just a mess. You can't blame that on Microsoft regime changes or the early launch. To this day SoE can't patch the game without a ton of game breaking bugs being introduced.
Silius was the man behind the level cap increase which was VG's worst content update it ever had. It forced people to grind mobs in the shittiest zone ever (Shores of Darkness) after he nerfed the xp on all standard lvl 50 content (Nusibe, Old Targ, Rahz Inkur, etc.) Our guild resorted to...
Except they half-assed it. It released the same week at WoW's first expansion in a barely playable state; it doesn't take a genius to realize what was going to happen.
Sounds kind of interesting, you can't just slap together 8 abilities without regard for what school of magic/combat they are in. It also makes sense from a balancing perspective, you can have a higher number of very power abilities but you might not be able to fit them all into a single set.
I'm not defending the kickstarter but they said this from the beginning. The KS is the first step of their development plan, the 800k is just to prove that an audience exists for this type of MMO. When the real development begins they are going to look for full funding from either a 2nd...
Not sure if this was posted yet, but I noticed the class reveal was already listed:
1. Cleric
2. Dark Knight
3. Crusader 1/24/14
4. Rogue 1/31/14
5. Enchanter 2/4/14
6. Wizard 2/7/14
7. Shaman 2/11/1
So 2 tanks, 2 dps, 2 healers, and 1 CC.
I still say it's 50/50 whether or not it gets funded. They missed out on the initial surge because of the poor execution/hype, I still think it can still be salvaged but we'll have to wait and see. The biggest problem is making all the old EQ players aware that this project exists and is aimed...
