My understanding is that it can be used, as payment but I don't know the details. I'm also wondering if doge can simply adjust their technical aspect to become more viable as a legit currency. No idea what that would entail. Either way, Elon and a growing number of other celebs seem intent on...

Totally agree. But I'm not sure it needs anything from a technological angle to give it legs. If it was a stock I would give it a zero percent chance of going anywhere long term. But I think currencies are different. The value of currency is largely derived from the population's belief in...

Mentioned this on the coin thread, but I think it will go farther than people think. The traditional view of doge is that it is a worthless joke currency- and it has been for pretty much its entire life. But I think there's at least a decent chance of that changing. I'm not going to sink my...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

I've been cautious with doge because it doesn't make sense as a long-term investment (for reasons already stated in this thread). That said, I'm finding myself being forced to revise my thinking a little bit. Ostensibly, there are better cryptos for long-term investment, but here are the...

I haven't found one. If there was a better place doge would be even higher than it is. Everyone is struggling to find a place to buy/sell. I still use RH even though they suck bc they are free and I'm already set up there. Places like gemini and coinbase will fuck you with fees.

If you had invested 1k in doge when you posted this yesterday and sold right now, you would have made $310.

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Here's a super interesting question that no one can answer: When you buy doge on RH you aren't actually buying doge, you're just betting on the price. You never possess or own actual doge, even though your RH account indicates you do. You can't xfer doge off your RH account for this reason-...

My understanding is that you pay capital gains taxes on both stocks and crypto. If you hold either asset for less than a year, you pay the short-term capital gains tax. If you hold either asset for more than a year, you pay the long-term capital gains tax. Please let me know if this is incorrect.

I'm assuming at the end of the year I'll have to pay capital gains tax on my profits...? Same as stocks right?

Ok, here's a question for the crypto guys- if we assume China goes all in on crypto and it blows up, which crypto should we be investing in? BTC?

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Yeah... Elon and even Gene Simmons have been pushing doge and it's keeping it steady and even bumping it a little. I'm guessing when they stop pushing it will dip. I keep making money hand over fist every time I buy doge so I'm thinking about investing again at the next dip. Still doesn't...

SPAC question: I'm evaluating a few newer SPACs for investment and I know we look for: 1. Early entry- less than $11 2. Well-known sponsors with a history of success 3. SPACs that are looking to attach to a sector we like (tech, healthcare, transportation, etc) But how much does the IPO size...

Lol I must be dense. I though we didn't give a shit about warrants because (with a few rare exceptions) no one is holding a SPAC beyond the first big rumor bump? Have I totally missed what you guys are saying? I thought it was buy SPAC units early, wait for a rumor bump, sell, rinse and...

But ultimately I want whichever "U" designation they are using, not the "W"?
  21. Arden

Thanks. So if you just want the stuff that most people on this board are buying, it's "U" right? Because units don't drop to less than $10?

Can one of you smart SPAC people explain what the suffix ticker designations for SPACs mean? For example, I read about Ares Acquisition Corp as an exciting new SPAC that was supposed to have the ticker AAC. I can't find just "AAC" though, only AAC-UN. I've seen this with other SPACs too...

So one of the newer SPACs I scouted was: Omega Alpha SPAC- Opened 1/7/21. Biotech field. Jefferies LLC and Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC are acting as joint book-running managers for the offering. Raised $120m in IPO. 120m seems kind of low. Should I be avoiding SPACs under a certain amount...

    Investing General Discussion

Yep, pretty much exactly what I read. That was one of the "disadvantages" I read about SPACs... The managers are going to make the merger happen even if it's a bad one. But that doesn't affect you if you jettison the SPAC prior to merge. Still trying to figure out the downside to SPACs...

I mean I'm totally guessing here. The "group buy" thing today isn't scheduled until later today, so I'm kind of imagining it building momentum all day. Last time it bounced off .08, but this time it might not even get back there or it might blow past it. That's kind of why I'm fielding...

Ok crypto bros, here's the question. I'm seeing a pattern pretty much identical to the last time doge jumped up to ridiculous heights: steady increase, lots of twitter blue check chatter, Elon tweet, planned buy time tonight, etc. This is almost certainly a pump in dump (imo). Last time it...
