I'll admit, I didn't know that there was a bonfire that close to the Iron King either. I had most of the place extinct because, at the time, the souls were really good and I was helping a lot of people with the Smelting Demon and it gave me something to do in between summons.

I started at 3 stars into Rank 19. While every season is tough to get to Legend (after all, it seems to be less than 1,000 per region per season), I think this season is going to be particularly competitive with everyone racing for the card back. Personally I don't have the time or the...

Smelter is, by far, the hardest boss in the game if you take into account when you are supposed to fight them. I eventually beat The Pursuer (V2.0 legit) so Smelter remains the only boss I never killed solo. I'd feel worse about it if he wasn't, technically, an optional boss.

I wouldn't say the trash is "harder" but it's definitely more annoying. I think the worst are the knights leading up to the Ancient Dragon (one slip up and you can die really easily), all of the trash before the Sentries in Bastille and all of the Shrine of Amana. With that being said, there...

New Season tomorrow. It looks like the Pandaria Card Back is going to be the "welfare" back since it only takes rank 20 to get (but isn't awarded until the end of the season). For myself, I've entered a new phase of the game. I'm in "do dailies and hoard gold" mode right now. I don't have...

    Dark Souls 2

I'm just efficient with my souls. Early in the game the thought of losing souls and, forever, being underleveled from extincting enemies meant that I was super cautious. Every time I had a decent number of souls, I'd warp back and level up. In hindsight, there were only a couple of areas that...

Beat the Darklurker. Took about 3 real tries. He wasn't bad at all. He has crap for hitpoints and the only challenge is if his splits go super aggressive with dark bombs. I think that means I've done everything I can for the Normal Game. I finished at Soul Level 187 with just over 60 hours...

    Dark Souls 2

Vendrick was stupidly easy. Just hug his left hip and circle strafe him. I've lit the 3 Abyss Torches and gave the Darklurker one attempt. It didn't seem too bad but I died before I got it to split. That's really the last thing I have before starting NG+ if I decide to.

I killed the Ancient Dragon. Took me about 20 tries I'd say. Once I figured out how to kill him, it was surprisingly easy. The biggest problem is that there is absolutely no room for error in this fight at all. None. Any hit of his will kill you instantly. The strategy I used was to keep...

I've been trying Reynad's Zoo deck and I really don't like it. When it works, it works really well but it falls apart a lot. I know that Zoo isn't an Aggro deck but the meta is so anti-aggro right now that everyone's deck, in Casual, is built to counter Hunters. Those same decks that counter...

Went back and killed Royal Rat Authority. Took me a couple of tries but I decided to cheese it with Sorcery. I also went back and killed The Pursuer V2.0. Again it took me a couple of tries but once I figured out how to dodge the blue "curse" sword ability, it went smooth. I'm currently...

The second ending (where you walk away from the Bonfire) makes a lot more sense if you return to the Abyss and talk to the Primordial Serpent there. He's VERY different than Framp (the one in the game's central hub). If I remember, there are some other criteria to getting the 2nd serpent to...

I'm one of those weird people who actually like Blitzball and got pretty good at it. The first thing to keep in mind is that the first few games are brutal and you will lose. The main thing to do is focus on gaining some levels. I also dropped Datto, immediately, because he sucks. Zev...

Final Fantasy XV is still scheduled for sometime this year (most likely 4th quarter) but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed into early 2015. I've heard that they're working on a PS4 Tales game as well but no time frame has been announced. As sad as it is, a lot of us early adopters...

A lot of us agree with that statement. However, a lot of us also think that Microsoft screwed the pooch with the XBone. By most standards it would have been a decent system but compared to the PS4 it's, clearly, an inferior system that, at launch, cost $100 more. Healthy competition is good...

In a lot of ways I hope that there isn't a FFX-3 in the works. I think X-2 ended the series pretty well. I was happy with the real / extended endings and I think anything else would just be mucking up the series. I'd still buy it, probably, but I wouldn't be happy about it!

Not only is the combo backbreaking, it's also easy to pull off. With the way mulligan works, you get to see a good chunk of your deck before you've even played one card. Then Reynad's Hunter is built around cycling cards. Flares and Tracking allow the Hunter to spin through their deck really...

The opening game Blitzball strategy that has always worked for me: First half: Do nothing but pass the ball around. It's vital that Tidus gains a level here. At halftime: Equip Tidus with the Jecht Shot Opening part of 2nd Half: Drive Tidus towards the goal and score with Jecht Shot...

So I threw together Reynad's Huntard deck and threw it into casual to get a feel for it. 3 games later, I had 3 wins. Huntard mirror match. A paladin who, for some reason, through using his Hero Power every turn was a good idea. And finally a Mage who made the unforgivable mistake of using...

I don't disagree. As others have said, when they were doing monthly "balancing," it forced the game and the meta to change (though some might argue that their "balancing" led us to the situation we're in now). Today things are very stagnant and I don't see that changing until they finally...

I've been deranking like crazy these past couple of days. I know I say this every couple weeks but the game has completely lost all of its fun for me. It's nothing but Reynad Hunter and Reynad Zoo decks out there right now. Reynad should feel proud. By himself, he has completely destroyed...

On a related note. I take back what I said about "nerfing hunters into the ground." I know it will never happen but they don't need nerfs so much as they need to complete overhaul from the ground up. Mage's are in a similar state if for different reasons and I'd like to toss Priest in there...

Freezing Trap is really annoying but it can also backfire spectacularly on the Huntard. I don't care about the extra mana cost if I get to re-use the battlecry on some cards (Ancient of Lore, I'm looking at you). But Control Warrior, right now, is the way to go. There really aren't any bad...

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you. The games really do look great. Especially compared to how grainy the originals were due to lack of HD TVs and the inherent PS2 limitations. I guess I'm just spoiled by a game like Lightning Returns where everything looks amazing. But I guess that isn't a...

Part of the "fun" of console wars are the rabid fanboys on either side of the argument. Reminds me of my school days with the Nintendo vs. Sega arguments. Now those were epic. I still think I'll get an XBone one day for their exclusives. But it won't be any time soon and it won't be until...

Warrior Control is probably the most consistent deck that I've played in a long while. It's just very solid. Of course I lose with it but overall I'm very happy with the deck performance. I can even deal with shitty hunter "to the face" decks pretty well. My only complaint is that the Mirror...

I'm weird. I actually play a lot of FPS games for the solo campaigns (which is one of the big reasons Titanfall turns me off since, if I understand things right, even the campaign is multiplayer). It's also worth noting that one of the big reasons why people preferred the Xbox for FPS games...

As long as your account is not banned, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. And like I said earlier, with all of the consumable souls you start with, you can push yourself to whatever soul level / memory you want to go out and PVP with whatever flavor of the month build is out there.

I wouldn't say that bosses are "smarter" in 2. But you have much smaller windows to heal up than you did in previous games. Basically you hit your heal item and the boss, instantly, goes right for you. So you need to have some distance and wait for a combo. If you simply try and heal, you...
