Time for someone to unlimber the Hero Engine argument, then! While I didn't hate SWTOR, I can tell you one thing ESO has over it in spades: The designers of SWTOR went out of their way to add in long waits/run times/numerous trips back and forth on multiple occasions just to slow down player...

The more I see of the crafting system, the more I think the limited itemization is by design. They really do seem to be pushing crafting, either self or others, as the go-to path for equipping your character. I can't recall but are there going to be local auction houses, or are guild stores...

Except there are people who have actually played it. I know the "magic patch" thing is always a rumor but in this case there isn't magic to it; its just a patch that most people will get to play in two weeks.

I disagree; maybe if that kind of grinding/min-max/time-efficiency thing really matters to you, sure. It does belie the point, though: Is the issue that grinding is more efficient that questing, or that everything is forced to be quest-oriented? I have seen both arguments over the last 10...

I agree with you about all the above but I also like the questing in ESO. /Shrug. The three starter zones all tell pretty good tales: While exploring the legends of the island, Bleakrock is invaded by the Daggerfall Covenant; In Stros M'Kai, you have to help a pirate captain assemble a crew...

For me, I got exactly what I wanted out of this beta: I finally figured out the lockpicking game such that I could open all the chests I could find; I crafted a ton of stuff and feel like I have a good handle going into live; I played up the dragonknight to 10 and revisited templar as well...

Most of those fixes are not in this beta, as psykel says just up thread. EDIT: Much better start than last week. Everything loads and runs well. Logged back in to find my Pact Nord at level 8 in Stonefalls. Let me tell you: Don't think the game is too easy; just run ahead of the content...

    Crazy Neighbor. Coward Landlord.

Or across 59 in the Museum District. The Heights is too far from Miller. That would completely explain why ham is Triple-A screwed looking for somewhere else: Prices are brutal that close to Downtown/Rice/Montrose/West U. and don't get much better until you get way past 610 in any direction.

Point is, someone who isn't Rescorla who is also in the Closed Beta with the updated patches could go test this out right now, and come back here and tell us. We don't have to rely on him/her. For me, the idea of lag is when I let go of the mouse button charging the attack, do the model's...

While there are bread crumb quests which follow the major story lines for each zone/area/region, nothing is preventing you from running around and finding things to do on your own apart from these. Those patch notes do indeed look good. In regards to your pvp question, A couple of pages back there was a video of a guy soloing PVP as a dragon knight and getting tons of kills without ranged. He was sneaking but that is something that all classes can do in ESO.

Once I changed the way I thought about the wind-up/swing action in ESO vs. how it works in other games, I didn't have any issues at all with the combat I experienced. It's way more Elder Scrolls than it is Other_MMO_01.

I understand completely. I don't mean to egregiously repeat myself but I found the tutorial/Coldharbor terrible the first time through, and a really poor introduction to the game.
