Truth be told, these semis were a tad disappointing after the number of hard fought three sets matches we saw this week. TSONGAplayed a solid match. Served well, hit some very aggressive second shots, was patient in the rallies to find the right ball to attack. Solid. Dimitrov on the other...

The funny part is how small the visual upgrade seems to be from the GC version. Not that surprising with pre-rendered backgrounds, but still.

Topsy Turvy day in Toronto with all four quarters going the distance. And the semis are: TSONGAbagged an extremely tight first set in a breaker and, having broken first in the second, looked like his excellent serving would allow him a straight set victory. But it was Topsy Turvy day, so...

TOXIKK - return to old school FPS

In 1999 people were playing Counter Strike, in which reload was critical and bunny hopping frowned upon. No regeneration, no cover mechanism, no class, no level... but free to play!

I've been a bit greedy on the updates here! We are at the quarter final stage of a master 1000 in Toronto! Before checking the draw, it should be said that Nadal is not playing this week and will not play Cinci to nurse a right wrist injury. I guess he'll win the US Open then... (more seriously...

    Audiobooks for the elderly

I am not familiar with audible. For my grandmother, it was CDs that were bought in book stores or borrowed from a library specialized in audiobooks. I suspect most public libraries have an audio book section too. EDIT: I should add that the specialized library was part of a paramedical public...

The easiest thing is probably a CD player that reads mp3 files. That's what my grandmother used.

    Good Anime Movies

From the '90s there was a lesser known movie that I really enjoyed back then, but I don't remember it much, so maybe take it with a grain of salt:Venus Wars. Anyone saw that?

    Soccer 2014 - 2015

I notice this went unanswered: it's not about overturning the call, it's about making the ref' doubt he took the right decision in hope you will get a more lenient call the next time around or a harsher call for the opponents. Since they do it all the time on every call, it might not have much...

Apparently it's more about taking a break to figure out what to do next:Studio Ghibli Is Not Dead Yet As for Castle of Cagliostro, I think it's a mix between not being a Ghibli movie (it started with Castle in the Sky) and not having some of the most obvious miyazakiesque themes and aesthetic...

The Wire: Greatest Show Ever Made

I don't think Stringer was not smart, I think what he was naive. For him it's all about beating the odds, leaving the ghetto and make a life for himself and he probably did not expect that once out of the ghetto he would still remain 'the guy from the ghetto' and that things are just as crooked...

    Good Anime Movies

I have a bad news for you: Miyazaki is 73 and Takahata who did Graves and the recent Kaguya is 78. The future at Ghibli are Miyazaki's son Gor? (Earthsea, Poppy Hill) and Hiromasa Yonebayashi who directed Arrietty and the recent Marnie. Both in their '40s.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya cost $50m to make and grossed $25m in Japan. It's pretty crazy when you consider that in Japan: Earthsea $64m Ponyo $164m Arrietty $110m Poppy Hill $56m The Wind Rises $120m When Marnie Was There, the latest Ghibli movie, also does not look like it will draw...

Gauntlet, classic 80s dungeon crawler remade

Does not really look like a remake, more like a reboot. Both the original and the '90s version were lame, so I don't see why this trend would change.

On the up side, there are professional athletes that recovered from a tibia-fibula double fracture. Soccer player Djibril Ciss? comes to mind (took him 'only' 6 months to recover). In a way it's a 'cleaner' problem than stuff with ankles, knees, shoulder or spine that are very complex systems.

    Good Anime Movies

The Eden Of The East movies are not spin-offs, they are the end of the story that began in the TV show. Great show and great movies, but there is very little point in watching the movies by themselves.

The Wire: Greatest Show Ever Made

Let's have this quote right: "You want it to be one way, but it's the other way." I too often think about it and even use it. It's a multi-purpose quote: it's philosophically powerful, about accepting the reality of things, but it's also a good smack down!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

If you really wanted muscle and athletic abilities, the right answer was Gina Carano. For height and screen presence, I maintain that Gal Gadot is a good choice.
