I played bladefall chieftan last league and it's pretty sick. It's a two-button build though which is clunky by a lot of peoples standards, but it's nice cause you can either go mondo tank mode or just dual wield for omega dps or do something in between.

Naw, it just seems like a nice easy chunk of single target ignite on an otherwise caster chieftan build since you've already got the endurance charges to power it. Maybe fireball scales better than I give it credit for and you could just swap GMP for a different support for bosses and be fine...

Y'all are haters, shattering steel looks sick. I suspect most of the work they've put in to this was all the alternate uniques/gems/basetypes, so a smaller list of actual passive changes seems fine.

Yea animal scaling is fucking ridiculous in this game. I've got a two-headed goat that has ~1200hp and basically oneshots anyone he gets in melee with and procs stuns on his hits. My melee guy in power armor isn't half as useful as that fucking goat is.

You "respec" by deleting your character and just recruiting a new one with the stats/skills you want. They always recruit at your level, so you just have essentially endless respecs in additional to crafting slaves.

How is this to start from nothing now that they've consolidated the story or whatever? Do I still have to run 100 fetch quests out to that desert oasis and eventually ragequit, or is that all gone now?

Is there any story content to the premade characters in this? Cause they all suck, but I don't wanna miss out on side storylines etc like Divinity 2 if you don't take a premade.
