Don't sleep on Malachai's Awakening for trap and mine builds. It's pretty sweet, letting you essentially ignore the high mana cost the skills. Really wish this had made it into the patch.

Elementalist for maximum clear(inpulsa nerfed though), occultist much more tanky. Given power creep, I usually lean toward tanky and let gear fix the dps issues.

With Mjolner? No. In general? Probably. Best part of the patch: The "Stream of Monsters" strongbox mod now spawns monsters much more quickly, and can spawn magic and rare monsters. This mod can now only appear in areas of level 35 or higher. Now just delete ghosts.

That's what makes it a good starter. Just beware, sustain is a bit difficult for that skill since you essentially can't leech and LoH isn't reliable.

Pick a skill you like and play it. The nerfs are likely not going to make starter builds unplayable. If you're looking for scaling your starter build into the end game, that's a different discussion. I'm likely going FB Deadeye into some CoC build. Or if CoC turns out too squishy, probably...

Are you sure about that? Here's what I'm having trouble balancing whenever I try to make a tanky CoC build in PoB: Tankyness High APS and CPS Crit rate/consistency(these are separate for some skills like Cyclone) CoC kept on cooldown To get the last three, I almost always have to go Assassin.

Consecrated Path Flicker Strike Cyclone(I'll admit this one is debatable) Charged Dash Many autobomber builds based on dual Heralds or triggering uniques. These are going to increase dramatically with the return of CoC.

Opportunity cost still exists in devoting supports and links to make maintaining those stacks worth anything. There are many builds that don't have to stop to dps. Not coincidentally, to me at least, these are the best builds :) Before 3.4, you couldn't maintain Arcane Surge without stopping...

It would be pretty cool if they nerfed BV damage moderately and made it instant cast. Smooth playstyle for main skilling and lots of utility for applying on-hit effects in tons of builds. I actually can't think of anything I want to start the league with now that isn't JUST a starter build...

BV is powerful, it doesn't get this popular otherwise. It's the playstyle that sucks.

If so, they should have put that in today's manifesto. It was the most used skill this league.

They'll be alright, people that want to play them likely will. But GC and BV based builds will make them look silly.

Poet's Pen buff ;) PP, Cospri's Malice, Mjolner...what other items offered triggered effects? Ngamahu's Flame, I guess, but I've never looked into the cooldown for that item. 0.25s CD on Mjolner is NOT the problem with it.

How does this deal with stat sticks for spell casters?

Not how the gem is being used there. It's purely just to gimmick to give the minion tag to an ability.
