It's not just that. You can't drop people into the world with absolutely zero points of reference and have the story going at 100%, and hope that they catch up. If they're like me, they'll go, "Ehh, it's trash. Didn't get the story, for whatever it was trying to tell me."

I finished the game with a berserker. It's gear dependent, but not as much as an engineer. So... Meh. The main thing you've gotta look for on the berserker is what damage you're putting out.

Mend Armor isn't helping? What are you being hit by? Magic damage? There are only two types of damage, physical and magic. Plus, there are resurrect scrolls. You'd be surprised, at least I was, at how powerful Fane as a caster can become.
