You can't really see if a run was mapped beforehand. I'm sure there are rules, just as sure as I am that people will go very far for speedrunning records.

Concerning speed runs; it is possible to map out an entire run by ALT-F4ing so progress isn't saved and restarting the run. I'm sure some of these runs are the result of testing a large number of combinations in order to find an optimal one.
