    Post Your Pet

Actually I have the same problem....someone finally checks this thread, I get a bunch of reaction notifications and then I see it was for the post your pet thread, and then I remember why I have posts in there. Whole thing fucking sucks. After Andrew died, I didn't wanna be at work. We worked...

These are some great videos. I didn't realize you could put something together so cheaply and easily that would be effective at clearing the air. Had to leave the garage in between passes, because it looked like a fucking flour mill in there as I was surfacing that shit.

Well, fucked up my router sled today, tried to take too big of a chunk and instead of bogging, caught some monster kickback on the router. Lesson learned, now I know what I can take and can't. Perfect time to order an endmill while I build a new sled.

You guys are great. I don't think this gets said enough, but this entire site is a wealth of knowledge. It's fucking awesome.

Jointer is gonna be the next thing I'm gonna have to work out, because while some of these are gonna be live edge pieces, I am gonna wanna square up some of it. But yeah, you guys are right. Could do that....that just worries me that I'd go too deep. At least this way I'm not gonna fuck up...

I don't know how i'd maintain a consistent surface on that. The pro of the router sled is keeping a consistent depth.

Huh, that's crazy. Biggest endmill bit I can find is 1 inch, but if it's really that big of a difference even with a small bit, maybe it's worth it. They're fucking spendy though. I had to take it in layers because eventually I was removing too much material for the bit to handle without...

That piece was 1.5" on one end, 2.5" on the other end. It's a lot more than a belt sander can take off. The electric planar I had considered, but my pieces are 2-3' wide. Way more than a normal shop planar is capable of handling.

Huh, don't have a CNC. Can you use those bits in routers?

I thought chainsawing this shit was grueling. This is exhausting. I've got a 2 inch surfacing bit on a top of the line Bosch router, but you can only cut 1/4" deep and maybe take 3/4" passes before the bit bogs down in this stuff, so it's an absolute slog doing a slab when you've gotta remove...

Now, I know I have pieces that are 2.5" thick on one end and 1.5 thick on the other, thanks to the inaccuracies of a chainsaw mill, but goddamn is is it disheartening turning this much material into sawdust. I might cut some slabs in half so I can get 2 nightstand table tops out of each, just...
