she talks mad shit about how much of a bitch you'd have to be to sneak through the "easy" way. I didn't pack a lunch to slaughter all those harpies and a magma wyrm for the "easy" way and ended the journey starving. Meanwhile literally every speedrunner will be blitzing through the two forts to...

I was kind of planning on restarting for future playthroughs but if the game gets progressively harder maybe I'll stick with NG++

ER's messages are super useful. There are very few surprise attacks that aren't prefaced with a warning. The hidden puzzles you have to solve are always caked with messages. It makes the game easier in a way, but it's so fresh I don't mind.

I made an attempt to do the content in order of difficulty and this is basically what I followed.

Usually if there is a secret wall there will be like 3 messages all sayign the same thing. One time I foudn a secret wall with no message. I put a message down and got one applause for it.

I saw a pic yesterday of someone who made a handy controller holder by smashing their controller into their desk hard enough to create two holes.

I use https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Wired-Controller-Windows-Console/dp/B004QRKWLA for my controller. Not sur eif something like https://www.amazon.com/PowerA-Enhanced-Wired-Controller-Xbox-x/dp/B08F44DPJW is better or whatever now. I don't recommend playing Elden Ring with mouse/keyboard.

fuck, yeah I'm really missing daily quests that enrich player experience by rewarding them for approaching consistent challenges. I hate that when I down a boss I can't repeat the encounter every day and get rewarded.

Things I miss in ER that are in other games: * Inventory weight limits, so players can feel rewarded for increasing it and not having to shuffle their inventory * Durability on weapons, so players can diversify their weapon set to avoid breaking weapons in a boss fight * Unskippable dialog on...

The horse will make speedruns a lot more enjoyable. ER may be the greatest game to speedrun ever made. Or maybe not because there will be 80% horse riding :|

I think people who don't enjoy the Oblivion gates are also more likely to dislike Oblivion. For me, they were the highlight of the game because it turned the game from an quest / exploration game into an ARPG while you were in the gates, especially with all the gameplay/difficulty mods I stacked...

As someone who drives between Wisconsin and Detroit with regularity this cracks me up. That whole stretch between Michigan's border and north of Chicago is a trip through blight town.

Figured I'd post a vid of the last boss I killed with my bloody dragonborn build before I switched to int/dex. Spoiler: Mohg fight Nothing special and my performance was trash, but still got the W. I don't really like the build because anytime I'm casting it feels like cheese, with or without...

Only half kidding. I could probably play ER with like, 4 buttons if I stuck to my incantation build. I just need one button to summon my mimic, another to cast my dragon incantations and another two for sprint + run forward. Playstyles that make use of bloodhound's Step make having tight camera...

It's fine, but I recommend gamepad. The value of having fine-tuned directional control is too high. I personally play with a gamepad in my left hand and right in my right hand.

Problem with crafting is I need consumables most when I am most likely to die and lose the buffs. If they were more valauble I'd sell them, but right now I just ignore them. I'm sure that hurts me in some way but the opportunity cost of using them is too high unless I hear of a huge benefit.

No. This was not obvious until I took a leap of faith but nothing is lost and there is no cost to recover the original ashes of war. https://attackofthefanboy.com/guides/elden-ring-how-to-remove-ashes-of-war-from-a-weapon/

My favorite is the super creepy palm readers who tell you where to go next. When people talk about how a game would be better without map objectives leading you around I think it's important to consider how much effort goes into making that feasible. Morrowind was one of the great games without...

The item comparison QOL stuff I agree with, to an extent. There are ways to do item comparison that you may not have explored, I didn't really understand it until I took the time. The world exploration thing I disagree with. The game has a tremendous amount of features integrated in that...

I'll have to try that out. OP summons are kind of acceptable to me in ER, more so than spells/items, because when I contemplate doing a "hard mode" playthrough of ER, not using summons is probably first on everybody's list. So this summon being available, and accessible somewhat early on, is...

guard counters are strong and fast, using it when you have an opening even without 100% phys def can be really good. Using it has the same problem as other counterattack approaches, you lose the initiative and have to wait for the opponent to attack. This is unavoidable in tough fights because...

Asmongold looks like I feel playing ER. I love the graphic for the meteor. I actually didn't see it ingame. My first attempt when the boss disappeared I just got oneshot by it without even knowing what happened and the next attempt when he disappeared I just ran away until he showed up again...

Some musings on my build. I went with a bleed build using twinblades and transitioned into a dragon communion incantation cast that used the https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Dragon+Communion+Seal to boost my dragon communion incantations. I primarily use...
