I am in chapter 13 and I'm a little disappointed that the last 4-5 chapters reverted into FFXIII hallway bullshit. Imagine if Altissia region was open like Lucis, what lost potential there. Haven't finished yet, felt a twinge of disappointment being in the final moments and warped backwards.

I think I am in chapter 8, level 35 or so. Was driving toward a story objective and had to stop due to magitek in the road. It was level 17; that made me think maybe I shouldn't do so much side stuff.

Level 40 or so it seems. You should progress the story a little bit so you don't faceroll everything. Side quests don't go away, nothing is missable.

What do you want to do, drive on the left side? Manual makes it easier to get out at any time or go anywhere you haven't been before, since auto only takes you to quest destinations etc. Look in your gear inventory? Did you make sure the dlc was actually installed or just redeemed and waiting...

Hold square and wait for parries when you are in a swarm of mobs. To use magic, warp away, use Ignis' regroup to gather everyone away from swarm and nuke from orbit. It can be really powerful so don't ignore it.
