Um, game engines are almost always made by third parties. Ever heard of Unreal? It's part of the business. Just because Voxel Farm has control over the engine doesn't mean that SOE has to implement everything that they do.

They were probably planning on doing the reasonable thing, voxels for 90% of the builds with pre-rendered objects (props) for details.

I just meant that it wouldn't be in as good of a state as it is right now it they didn't have a huge influx of alpha testers. I'm not saying the budget would have been different, or that the end result wouldn't be as good, just that they wouldn't be quite so far along.

Are you even disagreeing with me? I said they could and would have made the game even without early buy-ins. I just wouldn't expect them to be as far along as they are now if they didn't due to the sheer number of testers.

No it wasn't, and it would have still been made even if people didn't buy in early. It probably would have just taken longer and wouldn't be as good.

Doesn't matter how you justify it. You paid for time/access and like Dick said, no one buying it on Steam now can get the time that you had. Anything that you got other than access to the game is irrelevant.

Beat the DLC, probably took me 6+ hours (NG+ my first time), and I feel like I am missing a boss. Only did the two back to back at the end.

Limiting to 30 fps solves all problems... if you can deal with playing at 30 fps.

If it's going to be 4 people more often than 5 I'd say FFXIV. Casual as fuck until you hit the end game farming. Plenty of content for only playing a couple of times a week.

Played a bit last night and got rocked around a lot. The first set of two ghost enemies with the ruin sentinel moveset worried me for a bit before I figured out the trick. I died in the area with ground spikes, trapped in a corner by those ghosts and called it a night :P

Perfect example, Windwaker had haters at first but it's one of the Gamecube games that to this day still looks great. Of course the HD version is better, but the original lasted much longer than most other games of the same generation.

Durability loss is apparently tied to the amount of frames that you're hitting something, so if you're playing at 60fps instead of 30 you basically have 2x durability loss.
