I don't hate anyone here man. Not at all. I'd happily /guild with any poster here despite any disagreements we may have had in the past...
But man... Those questions were 90% passive aggressive attacks. Do I want to know the answers to some of them? Sure... But let's call a spade a spade...
...an argument could be made that its important for the President to be 'humanized', so ill give that question a pass.
We have a unique opportunity here to get some information on a product some of us are at least a little interested in... I don't think it's useful asking...
Am I seriously arguing the point here that non leashing mobs create a more dangerous environment than leashing ones? Am I in the twilight zone?
Also, I don't have massive EQ nostalgia. I play classic EQ everyday on p99. If I tried to run my level 18 Iksar through the Overthere without hugging...
I take good care of my gear... My fatboy launch day PS3 is still kicking. It's served me well but it is extremely loud (always has been) and pumps out an enormous amount of heat (again, always has). It is massive, and cheap looking. I may buy a Next gen console just to update my entertainment...
For one, Given this community's history, I don't think any devs will post here for quite a while...
Additionally, does rerolled.org have the same cache fohguild.org had? I'm a community insider and can't really say because I'm biased. Does the industry still know/give a shit about us?
I'm not so concerned with kiting or training, I'm more referring to the lack of mob leashing impacting the level of danger a player feels traveling through the world. Obviously, EQ as an example, a level 20 wouldn't dream of running his ass through a level 30 zone with Argo mobs unless they had...
Now I'm not sure what your hard-on for me is... I've seen you bash me in a couple threads now, so I suppose I should actually speak to you at some point... Unless I already have and it was just that unmemorable.
I don't hate 'fun', I love fun... And there is nothing I find fun about this...
Even without that though... Don't you thnk project Copernicus looked great? That huge statue over the city? The colour palate? Everything just looks so grand and impressive. Easily GW2 levels of quality, and I think that's the best looking MMORPG ever released.
Beauty is in the eye of the...
See that's where i disagree - it isn't the same... In MMOs like EQ, WoW etc, there WAS a point to the grind... It was to be competitive, to show off. I just don't see that same spirit here.
Actually, I think I love video games, and that's the problem. This game feels like playing the same level of Mario over and over with no chance of failure... to be fair it's my first stint into the arpg genre. I think they just aren't for me at all
Vanuard sold 250,000 copies in its first month.
Aside from that, each system doesn't exist in a vacuum. Just because a world is immense doesn't mean you can't create ways to traverse it. Ways that help distinguish classes and promote social interaction and interdependence.
If a game world is going to be as big as Vanguard's there needs to be a gameplay reason. Otherwise, all it accomplishes is segregating players. Now if intentionally segregating players is factored into your resource/economy/territory control metagame (EVE), well then that could be awesome.
Is this what this genre is? It must just not be for me. Burning through the story and then sitting in a lobby running terminals to attain better gear so you can run the same terminals with more HP?
No... A 'Picasso' it isn't
It's really not so difficult IMO...
1. Big world. Vanilla WoW travel system, very restrictive and fewer flight paths. Land mounts. Classes with teleports & run speed buffs.
2. The VG death system (detailed above)
3. No mini map. Instead your character 'draws' a map in game after you have...
Yes, the fact remains, i do need data, and nothing you said even comes close to satisfying that need.
Yes, WoW was a great game, but if you think it didn't get a boost from battle.net and it's decade+ strong IP, you are kidding yourself.
Ya... Unfortunately I think this one might be too little too late.
I am (very) optimistic about EQN. I'm gonna upgrade my rig to the max for Titanfall release in 2014, and then if EQN doesn't 'deliver' I think I may be done with PC gaming all together.
Agreed. At this point it's not even about creating a game similar to EQ, IT's about making a game different than WoW+clones.
Why would I play your low budget WoW clone game when I could just play WoW?
I'm looking for someone to support their 'the EQ model is ineffective for retaining large amounts of subscribers' assertions. Give some kind of data, in the form of comparable launch/failures, or something else. Please sow me these EQ-like games that have been released since 2005 because I would...
