It drops a supply crate. Because of the limited ammo and salt (maybe, not sure how it is in lower difficulties) I've been melee'ing with the 70% burn / 3x range gear. Working pretty well. Set a few guys on fire, run and find some cover, pick them off as they chase. Rinse. Repeat.

Skills with the same name stay at the skill level. So you can skill up a Mermaid all the way to max and evolve it to StE without a worry.
