Yes it lowers your utilization if you're not spending more after an increase but if you have an available amount of credit that's approaching your yearly income it can make it very hard to get any new financing on anything at all. Will a dealership even allow you to pay off a car with a credit card? A bank certainly won't let you pay off a loan with one so I'd be surprised if a dealership accepted CC as payment for anything more than a small down payment.
