    Wills and Estate Planning....

So.... I have to have a surgery soon. Dr assures me it's not a huge deal, but it seems like a huge deal. (Partial nephrectomy to handle a 28mm cystic formation on my left kidney). And it's made me think. I know there are things about this I can control, and things about this I can't control...

Oh yeah, the standing MSFT strategy is that once you're in with them (on the Azure side, or on the app side with an E5 license) you just get so much inertial sapping that you can't even justify moving off/away from them. They have mastered that sales strategy which is referred to as "Total...

An aging monolith which can't seem to come up with any actual new ideas. But large enough and thanks to Windows/Azure/Office365 entrenched enough it's probably not going anywhere in our lifetimes. Oh, and I'm a big fan of the Surface Pros. Have one from 8 years ago that still just keeps...

At that point you're buying what "real" gold and silver bugs would call "Paper Gold" or "Paper Silver". Because it's not the asset but rather an abstraction of it. But also those same people believe the physical asset is king because it's the one thing that would endure a wholescale financial...

I've run into this same dilema for precious metals. Between being charged a premium over spot to purchase, and only being able to sell for a discount below spot seems like there's a 6% or more delta loss you eat to invest. Am I perceiving that wrong?

OK. thoughts on this strategy, and how insane am I? I'd been playing around with a lot of alts for a while, but some time ago I realized I had better things to do with my time (at least for now). At the time I had around 33% of my crypto holdings in BTC, and the other 66% on the ETH chain...

    Post Your Pet

Reminds me of something which happened with our cat Buddy. We had him for probably 3 years before this. He had always just had absolutely horribly "kitty breath", up on that "what are they feeding you?!?!" level of smelly. But we'd never seen anything to indicate anything and the vets had...

    What vehicle do you drive?

If this is successful it wouldn't shock me to see a sedan/hatchback form factor. Although looking at the options, you can take one of these and put a drop kit on it (they offer lift or drop) options to get you closer to the ground and one of the SUV options is somewhat hatchback-y. (curved...

Apparently that's the base battery, and there's a "long range" battery option for around 240 mile range. If you're puttering around town that's fine. Living in Texas I wouldn't want it as a truck if I had to regularly make runs around the golden triangle (Dallas/Houston/San Antonio(Austin).)

I think there will be some long term market for them. I know younger people in my line of work who literally uber everywhere and put it on their expense reports and my company now doesn't bat an eyelash paying for it. Plus folks like my wife who just have a disdain for driving themselves, but...

That's still not too bad assuming your company isn't going to dump 15% in price in 3 months. As others said. Is your company one you'd consider buying stock in anyways? If so, this is just free money for you. How many other investments could say "You'll gain the market increase in stock...

That was pretty much my angle too. Since then I've realized that with the fact that you have to buy at a markup over market spot price anywhere you buy round/bullion, and then have to sell at a discount off market spot price when you sell it was eating so much profitability I stopped seeing it...

Do they let you do day of purchase sales? (and do you have to abide any insider trading open/closed windows?) If so, that could be an easy 15% profit in one day functionally. Even sacrificing a third of that to taxes. That's 10%. I'd say do that all the time, then re-invest it into whatever...

I agree with that, it wouldn't shock me in the least to see Elon decide to try to buy or duplicate this form factor at some point for Tesla where it would just be a sub-model of Tesla filling this market niche. Call it the Tesla Flex with a standard chassis/mechanical layout, and customizable...

I can see the potential for this as an EV. Yes, I would like to see an ICE equivalent from somewhere, but for that we just have to get the US to loosen it's regulatory asshole enough to let those wonderfully cheap Toyota trucks in. Not a huge fan of the Slate's limited cargo/towing capacity...

I think the bigger fact is that both of them will essentially have a "one generation head start", but FSD will be a commoditized option on virtually all vehicles within 10 years IMHO. Now, the other automakers might license the technology from one of these two, that's a distinct option.
