    The 80s kid thread

Here's another obscure 80s TV show. I don't think it ran for more than one season. And has this one been mentioned? Hello, Courteney Cox.

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

How much importance do you guys place on certifications? I'm speaking of the Microsoft certs specifically, like the MCSD. Our department manager recently mandated that we all must obtain this certification by 2015. I don't' really have a problem with that. However, one of the guys on our...

    Fargo

I actually never saw Fargo the movie. So, sat down and watched that a couple weeks ago then started on the series. Love it. Absolutely great show and deserves more attention here than it's getting.

    Star Trek: Discovery

It's been a few years since I rewatched B5 but I distinctly remember seasons 3+ looking pretty decent. The visuals seen in this battle montage still look pretty decent to me: Babylon 5 EPIC Battle Montage - YouTube

Oh, come on. Data is by far the most interesting character in all of the Trek universe.

    Revolution

So the finale was last night. Did it end with any real resolution? I admit I stopped watching when I heard it was canceled so I'm a few episodes behind. But will watch the remainder if there's any point to it.

    24

Production costs kept it from getting renewed 4 years ago. But a 12 episode run for future seasons could've made some financial sense -- but only if it pulled in great ratings (like 2.0+). I love Jack Bauer, so hope we DO see more future bad-assness.

Represent Your Distro (or any OS)

OS/X will not feel any quicker than Windows. Windows is fucking fast and no Linux or OS/X machine will ever feel as "snappy" as Windows on equivalent hardware. I'd say fuck Eclipse/Java and go with Visual Studio and C# if you're learning programming.

How have you changed in the last decade?

Jobs have changed for the better, so that's good. But personal life hasn't progressed at all in the past decade or, hell, even the decade before that. I now find myself in the early 40s and it's become abundantly clear that things just don't happen on their own. One has to make them happen.

    Chronic Pain

For the past 2 years or so I've had what I thought was your typical lower back pain. It's not so much a pain as in I move a certain way and it hurts, it's just a consistent discomfort and tightness that's always there. It's not debilitating, though. I exercise routinely and it doesn't prevent...

Man I loved my TG-16. Damn shame it didn't sell particuarly well in the U.S. This game, Y's Book I & II, blew my mind (remember, this was what? 1991/92):

Life & Times at the American Office (L&TAO)

Nope. Been consistently moving up because I have common sense and know what the fuck I'm doing. Promotions aren't dependent on how often I get drunk at their little parties. (actually the new CEO just recently cut that shit out. No more booze).

Life & Times at the American Office (L&TAO)

I don't go to any company events because 1. I have nothing in common with these people besides work (and I don't want to talk about work outside of work), 2. Often it's just an excuse for them to get smashed. Bunch of hedonists. Fuck 'em.

    Star Trek - The Beyonder

I wonder -- for the 50th anniversary could they do a mash-up of all the major series: TOS, TNG, and new Trek. I'd love to see Shatner, Nimoy, Stewart, Frakes, Pine, and Quinto together. Maybe that would be cheeseball for some, but I think it'd be seriously cool if they could work out a great...

    The Blacklist

Looks like Tom survived (I guess? -- his body was missing at least). Also, Red is probably Lizzie's dad. I'm guessing the "your father is dead" is him speaking metaphorically.

    The Following

I actually enjoyed season 2. Yes, it's ridiculous and stupid, but it's a fun ridiculous and stupid. Make no mistake, though, the series would be absolutely devoid of merit without Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. Also, being limited to 12 episodes helps a lot. Wonder who the mysterious...

And with that decision coming so late we'll obviously not get a conclusion for the series. I wonder if Syfy could pick it up?
