hmm Frontier has a system like that too, you can't buy them though there only for daily login's.

The DLC is pretty much a separate story all together.(Like I said earlier there is some dialogue that pops up but it's pretty much filler.) and beating the game, puts you right before starting the final mission.

They have gotten really good recently at keeping the base firmware pretty much untouched, even bricking a N3DS is not a big deal right now(unless you really screw it up and need a hardware flash)

Ya the timer only being 20min's is a beta thing, actual mission timer is 50mins(some are shorter though, usually just resource picking, or repelling an elder dragon away from a city) Go into the training/dummy zone off the hub area, and toy around with weapons till you get the hang of there...

Someone hasn't seen the JP following for MH heh, these games last forever in Japan(and sell like crazy) Played it all weekend, 0 problems with either my Pro/Standard PS4 *shrug*
