That whole thing of 10 movies up for best picture, it's just done to get a wider range of interest. Then they're likely to have a bigger number of people tune in = higher ratings = more revenue for the show's makers and an apparent display of how important this awards show is.

I recently re-watched Captain America - Winter Soldier. Also better than I remembered. The action sequences really good! It's probably the best MCU movie, I think due to it not having to be either a origins story or having to feature multiple big name heroes in it.
