    Star Trek: Picard

Well to be fair, time travel is pretty Trek. Virtually every show has had time travel play a central role in an episode or a string of episodes. Although I would say the quality of them hasn't been so hot since DS9 ended. Voyager did the 90s time travel thing to try to explain why our...

    Star Trek: Picard

I couldn’t see the logos behind Picard - was it Terran Empire? If they did a Terran Empire mirror universe angle that could be neat. Although I do agree if they are lazy and do a Trumper angle that is too obvious, then that would be lame. Although it would be amazing if Qanon was literally...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Yes, the Ascians are as far as we know. As for the WoL, we have hints on what our deal is with being immune to primal tempers but they haven’t outright confirmed why

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

Given next xpac concludes the Ascian/Hydalean/Zodiark arc, and primals were basically an Ascian plan, I suspect that will be more or less solved. It will also give a lore reason to disband the Scions - their main mission will be complete (eliminate the Ascian and Primal threat)

My favorite part of the Architect scene were the people with shitty vocabularies that complained they couldn't understand what he was talking about.

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

This is a double edged sword. Just like "opening weekends" for movies, that will make or break the long term profitability of a game. Look at how many games get absolutely fucking roasted (undeserved or not) for bad launches then years later have trouble getting people back, even if they're...

That is true for many things, not just bugs. The real question is whether cooking or preperation eliminates that.

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

Exactly. Losing something you already earned feels way worse, which is part of the reason Ashes of Creation is going to bomb hard after the first month or so if they don't adjust that. Players have an extremely limited appetite for losing shit they worked hard to get

    What If...?

Ya concept was cool but execution was off. Characters didn’t seem to give a shit if another character died, lack of logic (if you’re going to turn into a zombie, why not make sure you disable your technology that makes you a massive threat?), humor in odd spots made it unclear if it was satire...

All I get from this is a bunch of older people that are looking for a specific community that meets their needs, then concludes there is a problem with the game itself when they can’t find it These games have communities already, most of us just choose not to participate in them

WoW's problem is mostly unique because of the forced 2 faction system. In those instances, it isn't a dead server so to speak, it is just horrible faction imbalance.

Grouping for xp to progress mostly died out because we all grew up and got jobs and don’t want to spend half our free time trying to get a group together that may or may not be worth the time we put in Late 90s/early 2000s were the worst because they didn’t have good xp scaling. My friends...

Easy shard farming: 1) Retainers bring back a lot of them if you send them on a mission to gather them 2) you can grow them. Even if you don’t own a house to use a garden, you can use planters I believe in an apartment or FC room. They grow pretty fast 3) Do all the crafter quests, even for...

Then sometimes they do shared AH as well if it gets bad. Again, the downsides far outweigh the any positives that might come from obvious server merges.

I already mentioned why: To allow for "individual servers" where players can be and have a server-specific community and/or economy, but you can avoid the pitfalls of a closed single-server ecosystem when needed in terms of player population by allowing a shared pool of players to be able to...

The game already has you play with other humans. Unless you're just in a zombie guild, you presumably already are playing with guildmates. You're trying to solve for a non-existent problem under the impression that "the good old days" have been lost, while proposing a solution that ignores why...

Both of your examples use server-grouping architecture, though. I wasn't arguing against rewards for helping noobs or whatever, I was arguing against the flawed idea of "give bonuses to doing group content with people on your server only".

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

It just seems like a system with more negatives than positives for a problem that isn't that big a problem. There is absolutely nothing that prevents you from socializing and making friends right now in a MMO. Placing artificial restrictions or "bonuses" on something that server groupings were...

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

Again that doesn't work with how the game is setup. 1) If people are serious about min/maxing and getting max rewards, then they'll all crowd specific servers if their current server isn't ideal a) This creates even more population imbalance or deficit on certain servers b) This...
  37. Cybsled

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

That wouldn't work, because server populations are scuffed and they are really just servers in name only. The server groupings are the "real" servers now. Most MMOs are like that now - it creates the illusion of a traditional server, but it allows the developers to manage population swings...

    Blizzard dies and Bobby rides

Social interaction is great and all, but it works best when it is something the player WANTS to engage in. If you try to force it too much, then it becomes artificial and breeds toxicity (towards others) or resentment (towards the game). You're putting up with other assholes not because you...

Final Fantasy XIV (Guide in first post)

The game has a built in simulation tool for crafting to let you try different tactics before you actually do the craft. It can be fairly helpful. Best way to understand crafting is look at crafting macros and understand why they are written the way they are. A good chunk of them focus on...

But then that isn't EQ. I mean, you're basically describing Vanilla WoW when you get down to it. Leveling in EQ wasn't really fun - I think a lot of people confuse sitting around shooting the shit while the puller is out looking for something to bring back to the group with the actual leveling...
