Squall is basically a reskinned Cloud without Samurai powers (e.g., Ret). Which is not at all bad. Depending on who/what items you have available to your team, might be the best character available.

There was a patch (and subsequent crash) a day before you posted this. Patches almost always bring a wave of crashes. Setting up a new bazaar toon before the server stabilizes is a waste of time.

The OS X client was never sold in boxes, to my knowledge. Mac players play a PC hacked client to play on a server designed to run on Macs, what?

I imagine distributing the OS X game client may prove difficult? I would think that most folks deleted the old app when SOE shut it down.
