The queue isn't real and/or is entirely non-functional. The servers are absolutely getting thrashed though, so if you see the stupid queue thing just leave/rejoin spam and you'll get in eventually.

Finished Kitava with a 2-link sunder berserker (found lifetap randomly). The mode is oddly compelling in some ways? The scarcity of items is actually relatively interesting and does add pretty real drama to finding random rares and such. I'm not sure the gold part of it really adds anything...
