    House of Cards

There'd be no way to coherently do this now, but it'd be interesting if the show was set up differently such that as Frank was working up the political food chain to the POTUS, Claire was working up the chain as well where she goes from the non-profit to state senator, to Governor and then when...

I watched some of the podcast. I hate the module release system SC has. If they have enough capital to make a full game, don't release it until then. I don't want the game to be old and the community tired of it by the time it's "released". I feel the same way about super long betas like PoE...

wow mythic ayanad? That's the first one I've heard of. I think I've gotten guilty only a few times. There's a lot of PRX friendly guilds, most neutral guilds like PRX and few enemy guilds participant in juries.

I think the extent of which the trading system needs to be streamlined will depend on the complexity of the itemization and crafting system. Since they're making noise about it being similar to SWG I think we can assume a fairly complex system. In which case the more streamlined it is the better...

In what situations do we deny service to people because of who they are? I was loose with my language so when I said, 'no group may be fucked in this country' (which is totally false of course, all groups are fucked in different ways) I meant 'no group may be denied service to'.

    Equal Pay for Equal Work?

IMO: Best you can do is look at salary averages in your area. But I've never really trusted those values because they always seem too high.

    Equal Pay for Equal Work?

Literally speaking, you're worth what someone will pay you. When I graduated and got my first job I thought that number was too high. When I got my second job I thought that number was too low. Right now I feel it's about right. In a more figurative sense you're worth what you can find...

    Equal Pay for Equal Work?

Maybe my college experience or first two years programming was a different experience than yours but I don't really feel like my first two years out of college made me a more capable software developer than the four years I spent in college. I'll repost what I said a bit ago in the CS thread...

    1. Because in this country, we want people to be free to engage in commerce and not have to deal with people's bullshit bigotry to do so. 2. Because people have the freedom to be who they want and as long as it doesn't impact other's rights they should be free to do so without getting...

Maybe you're right. I don't watch much Oliver but liked him on TDS. I don't want to give people homework, but please link a video of him where you think he's going after liberals like a bipartisan comedian would.

    Equal Pay for Equal Work?

I know about software development and I agree with him. What's annoying is that before your rant you agreed with what he said. Switch jobs. Oh and we go around about this in the CompSci thread. Yes, there are a lot of great software developers without degrees and a lot of poor software...

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

This video makes me want to see TDS become more conservative than what Stewart had. I watched a few Jon Oliver vids, all the ones I watched seemed leftist to the point of being dishonest and fake rage. Is that still the same? I like bipartisan comedy better than partisan comedy because it's...

GoT - Is Over, Post Your Drogon Sightings

I don't know of any book readers in this community who are eagerly awaiting the next book but don't watch GoT, so I'm not worried about having a thread to talk about the books that doesn't allow talking about the TV show. We'll see how this season goes, but my guess is that there will still...

    Equal Pay for Equal Work?

You're a product and your value is determined by who will pay you. If you feel you're being underpaid you have to make your employers believe you are willing and able to work elsewhere for more money. How do you do this? tough call.

Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian's new CRPG in the vein of Baldur's Gate

Vague question: In my last playthrough of BG1/2, I found that the somewhat archaic inventory system was a chore to work through. I spent more time dealing with inventory management and clicking on inventory / merchant screens than I am comfortable with. Does PoEternity have the same problem?

Tangential, but what makes mercs or "small groups of very capable people" interesting is that you usually have no recourse against them. They've built up their wealth or income in a way you can't really impact and you can't dissuade them by killing them because they live for that. Where as in a...

IT/Software career thread: Invert binary trees for dollars.

There's two points here: 1. Only a minority of people reading this thread probably have heavy experience in C, so != null is more clear to people. 2. Even within veterans of C, different programmers use different ways of pointer-checking and to be adament that one way is right is silly.

With a system of money having weight and loot on death I like NPC merchants scattered in different areas. I also wouldn't mind an auction house UI like Valor describes where you can only find that the next town over has a ring of +5str.

The Crowfall team hired some hot local actress or something to do a bunch of marketing videos. That things are much better now than they were before. Back when some 5% of the playerbase was female it was annoying when a community could get derailed by a woman showing up, especially when she played her cards. Now nobody gives a shit if you're a woman because you're one of 10 women in a...

I think Blackwulf has a pretty hold on the situation. But sometimes when people are asked, "Why do you want the ships badly enough? Why don't you earn them ingame?" the mental gymnastics they do to justify the value of the ships while also devaluing them so it's not p2w are incredible. And...
