Also note if you're a caster and the area is packed, use your weapon to tag instead of trying to cast a 1.5s spell to do it.

I'm pretty sure you can go to the Blizzard store in-game and buy it, same way you buy a token for gold. There's an icon for it on the default toolbar. You can make your own account and look for free, WoW is free to play now up to level 20. There's a bunch of restrictions on the trial account...

Unequipping your weapon before a wipe was definitely a thing in classic. You couldn't swap armor in combat but you could swap your weapon. Gold was so scarce back then and everyone did it.
