So far I have had no issue with connecting to btcguild. I think eleuthria has said he wants to shut down getwork to help with the 51% problem. If I ever get my asic from BFL, I don't know if I'll stick with his pool or not, just to help with the concerns of hitting 51% of the network. I do...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

I'm just going by what eleuthria has said about getwork and stratrum. He has said that the getwork servers get attacked more often than the stratrum servers. It looks like the eu-stratrum servers got hit yesterday with an attack. The great thing about eleuthria is that he honestly seems to care...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Btcguild is decommissioning the getwork servers because they are so prone to ddos. Stratum seems more resistant to them.

Lower transaction fees might make it more attractive to a business owner. Would probably make international transactions easier. That's about all I can think of but someone must think they can make money off of it.

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

There are a lot of bit coin projects in the works that could mainstream it, a bit coin credit card, bitcoin ATM's, things like that. More online stores are starting to use them but currently the only real value bit coins have is money laundering, drug sales and a speculative currency. As...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Mtgox does that for money laundering purposes. If you get verified, you can withdrawal $10k a day, you can sell however much you want though

Price on mtgox is down to $74. Wonder how far it will drop down
  8. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

I've only ever used mtgox, so I don't have any experience with other exchanges. I've found it is pretty straight forward to use. I'd get a dwolla account that you can use for fund your account if you use mtgox but to fund your account could take a few days. With withdrawals I don't seem to have...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

The pool I mine at, btcguild was hit with a ddos this morning, owner thinks is it was being done in conjunction with market manipulation in order to slow the ability of people to withdraw coins to cash out during the crash.

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

I guess that's the problem in such a small market as bitcoins, easy to manipulate the price. From what I read someone did that with namecoins a few weeks ago, dumped 50btc into it and then people ran to it and he sold out for a decent profit. I would hope mtgox would fix the issue passenger...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Damn, its at $190 now from a high of $266 today. That's a hell of a fall.

At the current price, gpu mining is still worth it. At current prices I'm making $400 a month with my 1 g/h. I do have 3 jalapeno's on order, so hopefully they ship soon. I wouldn't buy a GPU just to mine but if you're going to do some gaming, might as well get one that will help pay for itself...

Aren't there suppose to be investment funds getting in on bitcoin now? Could be someone doing that. Anyone know any details on coinlab taking over mtgox for US and CA customers?
  16. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Well it does have all the classic signs of a bubble, its got to pop sooner or later. I don't think there are any merged mining pools. I know BTC guild won't mine both bitcoin and litecoin, mostly because litecoin is cpu friendly. He did do namecoin for a while but that's a dead project so he...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Bitcoin is at $209. Bubble has got to pop sooner rather than later. Isn't litecoin much more susceptible cpu botnet's than bitcoin is? To be honest I really haven't looked too much into litecoins.

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Well current price is $182, was a high of 194 earlier today. Lot of volatility in the market. I'm wondering if buying and selling might be slightly more profitable than mining but I never try to time the market or hold on to anything I mine. Basically I have a auto pay out set with my pool of 5...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Bitcoins are at 173. I'm wondering how high it will go before the bubble pops and how low it will go when it does pop. Saw some post on Google+ that a backer of bitcoin had the price between $400 and $500 a coin.

That's the way I feel too. I've long since paid off the video cards I'm using and I've already paid off the 3 jalapeno's I bought so if I get those before the difficulty really goes up, I should make some decent money.
  22. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Its going to pop sooner rather than later. It is getting a lot of press though, mainly because of the Cyprus banking problems. I did see an article for a bit coin ATM on cnn money yesterday. So its certainly starting to catch on

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Oh yeah some have good reason, some I suspect are trying to get people to cancel their orders so they move up in the line. Others just have a hard on for bfl
  24. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Well batch 3 for the Avalon was priced at $5400 I think and it sold out quick. BFL probably saw that and said shit let's cash in. But then Avalon had a working product so they could up their prices.
  25. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Well BFL just upped their prices and lowered their performance. So that might keep people from buying more. They claim they will start shipping in the last half of April but who knows with them. Has a lot of people with their jimmies all rustled over at bitcointalk.org over it but then anything...

GoT - Is Over, Post Your Drogon Sightings

If I recall, it was said in the book that the dragons would continue to grow unless they were confined, that's why they built the dragon pits in KL. Also, no surprise but its been renewed for season 4 http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/ga...season-4-83586

  28. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

BFL seems to be the cheaper route but you'll be waiting a while, if you order now, its still going to be months before you'll get it and that's assuming they start shipping sometime in April. Avalon I think is sold out of batch 3 already. I ordered 3 japaleno from BFL in August last year. I...

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

Its ripe for a crash that's for sure but at least its getting a lot of press lately. But I'm enjoying it now with my 1g/hs I'm making around $230 a month. Little extra spending cash is never a bad thing.
  31. Arative

    Bitcoins/Litecoins/Virtual Currencies

I think that has helped drive the price up to $90 a coin. BFL is suppose to be close go shipping, so the increase in network hash and difficulty might drive the price down though.

The pool I mine at btcguild lost 1254 coins from the hot wallet of the pool because of the issue. 16 users got those coins, so far only one user has returned those I'll gotten coins. I really wanted Simcity to be a good game. It was the first pc game that I ever bought. I was leery of the online aspect but the concept seemed really cool. If nothing else, it made me pull out my simcity 4 cd, install it and mod it to hell to have a little fun
