I played ret only once during this raid and found every single fight to be melee friendly except bridge boy. Portal is a little annoying but dealable. I'm also in melee as holy so there's that too.

Any rares, chests, bosses and emissary caches can drop legendaries out in the world. It's kind of silly. I got my last legendary on my paladin by opening a chest on Broken Shore.
