What he is saying is that if someone buys a GME call for 10000 shares expiring 3/1/21, the market maker then buys GME shares right away to hedge against the option he just sold, even though technically the shares aren't needed until march. This then triggers a feedback loop since the shares...

You'll obviously need the cash in order to be assigned the shares. Whether it auto buys or not I think depends on your broker, you may have to call them to assign it.

Yeah, this is probably correct. The amount of money that will flood into the weed sector once it's federally legal will probably be insane. I'd say instead of trying to pick one or two winners, throw some money into THCX and just wait for the pop once the feds legalize, assuming they ever do.
