MMA leagues got a huge spike in ticket sales since dana white took over the UFC and made it primetime. I"m not sure on the WOW thing since they have been advertising. I"m sure it made alot of people that weren"t playing curious. Either way MMOs are mainstream now. WOW is just the only one...

What about the StarWars MMO they had commercials as well on mainstream tv. WOW is exactly like the UFC. Just like the UFC made all the MMA leagues mainstream, WOW makes the whole MMO scene mainstream.Thats just how it works.

Rayne I think you are losing this battle. WoW is definitely mainstream. Cartoons spoof it. It has multiple commercials in primetime,and it has the Shatner effect!

I see what you are saying,but WOW is definitely as mainstream as you can get. I bet if I poll a group of 20-40 year old people at least half of them would have heard of WoW in America. In asia and Europe probly more.

There is very distinct reasons for those 3 games success. UO was the first real mainstream mmo EQ was the first true 3d dikumud..when muds were extremely popular WoW brought its huge playerbase with them from warcraft not to mention they hired some of the top players of EQ to work for...

They won"t compete against each other trust me,most people will sub to both. Blizzard will just copy what SOE has done and make a Station pass.Not to mention another card game. Its a win win for them.

How do they plan to establish there IP? If its not through hit games,they might as well give up. Curts name will only take him so far,eventually he will have to show something. I do wish him the best of luck tho, I would love to eat my words and they make the greatest game ever.

EQ definitely had the worst launch. I must of read the Everquest strat guide like 10 times while I waited to play that game LULZ..

I think vanguard is a good game but its not for everyone including me. I was hopeing it was going to be more like Eq then it turned out to be. My first MMO was EQ back when it launched, and I have yet to find that type of world or experience again. I"ve just given up tryinng to find another...
