I don't personally feel that there's anything wrong with the tuning. There are a shitload of options to tone the difficulty down if you need it. That said, the game is hard for people who don't have an intimate understanding of the P&P game, but I appreciate the accuracy.

Thanks, Pyros. That tool is the piece I was missing. I've tried to download CE from three separate sources and all of them are setting off my antivirus. I guess there are a lot of corners of the internet that prey on and punish the retards who 'hack.'

My cleric got perma-death'd very early and I was forced to rest a ridiculous amount. And, like I said, I was traveling around/resting with absolutely zero regard for the clock because I had no idea I was on a clock (my fault).

It looks like one of the two authors have added an option to tweak the clock, but I'm not sure how to use the file. There are some vague references by other people who are using it, but I can't get it to work. I know absolutely nothing about modding games to 'cheat.' I've literally never done it.

If any of you figure out how to disable the clock in game, please let me know.

Heh, so I realized that I actually completed the timed quest but I screwed around for awhile afterwards and then I had 1 hour of in-game time to get back to the quest giver (impossible). It's going to be awhile before I play this game again. I know it's my fault, but fuck this.

Well, I just came across a mechanic that I had no idea that I was under. At some point in the first act you have to complete one of the quests in a specific time frame or your game is just done..over. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention, but I had absolutely no idea I was under...

That big acid centipede? I had to reload that fight about 15 times. It's not even a boss fight. It's just random trash that is a lot harder than the rest.

After a few more hours of play, it's clear that this game is a winner. If you're a fan of the genre you won't be disappointed. My only criticism is that there is a lot of map loading. It's not a big deal for me as I have an SSD. Anyone playing with a standard HD able to comment on it?

It's already been said, but I'll just reinforce the point; the game is essentially PoE without all the odd systems. It's a pretty good D&D adaptation. I like it a lot, but I'm only level 3 (about 3 hours played). The graphics are quite good and the music is above average.

I have it installed and I'll be able to play in a few hours. I'll give you guys an initial impression as soon as I can.

I'm just going to go with the basic edition. I couldn't care less about anything except the DLC and there's a high chance that it won't take place after the end of the base game and I have very little interest of playing these types of RPGs more than once.

I don't think a modern Dune movie could do the legacy justice; a premium stream series (as some others have already said) would be infinitely better. Maybe, if the movie does really well it'll spark some interest in a series.

I found a slick way to shoplift/pickpocket for people with low stealth scores (or against mobs with insane alertness). Have the character who is going to steal the items stand in an area where they are unnoticed while in stealth, then have Aloth (or whoever can cast Dimensional Shift) stand next...

The difference is the regression on failed upgrade attempts. That alone was enough to make me (and many, many others) quit the game. The gear upgrade grind would be ever-present even without that ridiculous mechanic.

I'm installing now and I've been reading multiple wikis for the past hour, but everything I've come across thus far is too general, intended for truly new players, or addresses the end-game. I can't remember what kind of gear my rogue had, but I'm fairly confident I was not well geared for my level.
