Well, EQ was stolen almost exactly from the mechanics of the old diku MUD, Sojourn. Down to 50 levels and most classes. That game had raids with tanks, healers etc etc. This is the game Brad played and raided in. I remember raiding Planes of Fire/Earth/Air and killing Tiamat etc. Fun game.

I disagree. If I was running a company I wouldn"t offer any transparency at all. Show the public what they need to know, keep them updated with scheduled production. You"re asking for nothing but trouble when you invite the public into you daily grind. We have no financial stake in the company...

MMOs arn"t mainstream? Are you kidding? Even if you take away WOW, how many games out there are all done online?

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

There are as many WOW commercials during a NFL football game than there are normal console games. If not more. It depends on what TV audience market you"re watching. But I don"t see a major car manufacturer partnering up with any other video game to target folks during an NFL game. Do you...

There"s a difference. WOW is an established product with an established company behind it. As seen on TV crap are all new products, however the "As seen on TV" is a mainstream brand though.

WOW is mainstream because I saw a commercial for it while I was drinking beer and watching the NFL last year.

As a consumer we have to right to demand this. The company can provide this or deny us this because we"re not paying for it. FIFY

I"m assuming you"re talking about theme and setting. If this is the case, then why do authors keep putting out Fantasy novels, or SciFi novels or keep writing books on World War II? A new story is always cool to read or play through. Game play and design go a lot into making a game fun to...

What constitutes over-development? I don"t think the fantasy genre is over developed. How many current MMOs do we have that are fantasy? Key-word: Current. WOW and EQ2 have been here for years. LOTRO is fairly new just reaching their 1 year mark. VG doesn"t count. What other games have a...

I"d be interested in seeing how many people playing WOW today are doing so primarily because of WC1-3, Diablo and SC. I can"t even pretend to guess at that one.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

Poorly worded on my part, I agree with what you said. The LOTR IP has nothing to do with the failure of the game, it actually helped it. The poor game design is what made it what it is. You can"t call it a failure, but you can call it a smashing success.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

I wasn"t calling you retarded, sorry, should of quoted Rayne in there somewhere. However, most of the masses of people playing WOW really even care about the WC RTS game. I know plenty of people in my own little realm of real life that play WOW obsessively that never even heard of the RTS...

Oh and one more thing, the reason why WOW is doing so well is because they spent a ton of money on marketing, and did it well. And guess what happens when people fall to marketing and try the game out? They found an MMO that played well, didn"t crash, worked, and didn"t have any bugs in it. It...

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

I think you"re retarded. LOTRO would of been a great MMO if it had things like meaningful equipment, good combat, different avenues of progression. It caters to the extreme casual. There is no carrot in that game at all. Would you play WOW if you knew you could get BT level gear by farming level...

Except in co-op you have to have your friends on to do anything, in an MMO you can do whatever whenever, and have your friends along as well.

Alright, time for insulting each other I guess. Look asshole, I"m not saying I"m a fucking hermit. I go to work, I go to the gym, I go to the bar, I go out to stores etc. I do it every day. Now during all this time I"m not interacting with these people on a "meaningful" level. I interact with...

Just to add on to my rediculously long post. This is a good point. I don"t want to have to interact with strangers. That"s not an MMO. Wouldn"t you say the world in massive with lots of people? I don"t interact with anyone outside, friends, family and work. I don"t want to get friendly with...

    1) Levels 1-70 are soloable. Any of the instances, PVP, raids etc are not. I don"t ever want to see a game where you are forced to group to hit max level. You can argue for or against bonuses or deterants for either solo or grouping but you should never be forced. It"s bad game design, never...

I think you"re TV viewing has changed. You market to your audience, so I don"t see many video game commercials anymore because I don"t watch many cartoons or the channels that cater to 12-18 year olds. Target audiences.

Green Monster Games - Curt Schilling

What does that mean? What"s next gen? What would make a game "not WOW". You have to quantify your statements or else you come off spouting buzzwords like "done correctly" and "next gen". Or coming off as a WOW hater saying "ANYTHING BUT WOW PLEASE!" What do you dislike about WOW so much that...

That"s where the safe money is. But there is a small chance that it could backfire where people see a new game with just the same old shit and finally get tired of it and it"ll flop. Small chance, but it think it"s there.
