They are iterations of the Wojack meme (the feels guy). In terms of practice the boomer is the old guy (Gen X usually) and the zoomer is the young guy. Most of the jokes and references are along that young/old axis.

My queue was a half hour (queued just about a half hour ago, got in). Last night I checked around 11:30 central and the queue was still 9000+ but at 2 in the morning it was gone.

Having played on a number of Daybreak's Everquest Time-Locked Progression servers this has gone several orders of magnitude better than anything they've done in years.
