And then you find out you need a specific Streamstone for the rarity of the weapon you want to Augment. The weapons I want to upgrade are r7's... so those nice two Hero Streamstones were useless to me. =)

If you're soloing; Vitality Mantle, Thundreproof Mantle, Palico NPC (two palico's are better than one); Ancient Potion if you die, Max Potion for instant heals. If possible, use a Fire element weapon, and take some bombs for the end.

Two Events which are very useful: Triple Threat (good for Deco), and the Pink Rathian/Legiana (great for HR).

Someone did math and the Princess Arrow III was a pretty close second to Cera, and a lot easier to build / augment. I'm still not quite sold on "the higher max element is always better", specifically for Ice, the Kushala bow is just so much more versatile.

The fully upgraded Bone-line Bow isn't terrible at all, especially if your build has free element easily obtained, the only drawback is the element is Water.

I get what you're saying, but I think this poise system makes sense, make use of parries / attacks to make then off balance so that you can get a critical hit in.

You can buy the gear you want, so you if want to get rid of the "pvp disadvantages" you'll need to do more than you want to get the money, or join a low/mid-tier guild that fight against non-soft cap+ guilds. Though I think you've said all this before.

Are you saying a r6 armor piece is going to have the same Def as a r8, when both are fully upgraded? As far as I remember, a piece of armor has a limited number of times it can be upgraded, so the r8 -should- have higher max Def, just like it has higher base Def.

I really like the 3-piece Kirin set bonus, too bad we can't capture Elders, but its great for running tempered investigations that you can capture.

The Brace Jewel is a tier 3 gem, so you'll need a tier 3 gem slot on a piece of gear; atm you have three t1 and one t2. Look at the little triangles at the bottom of the gem icons.
