Honestly the companions helped a lot. Piper and Nick made the game more interesting as I roamed around. Eagerly awaiting the DLC now, though. There are still some spots to visit, but I'm starting to run out of quests. I still need to do the Silver Shroud one, though.

Game value is determined by how much gets sold, how popular it is, and the genre. Fallout will probably retain some value since RPGs tend to hold value fairly well and there are still unreleased DLC.

I suspect if they didn't have further DLC plans for the story, you may have had more flexible options. Restricting your options makes it easier for them to craft DLC continuations of it, since you don't have to account for as many variables.
