So the sword trick thing does work for all 3. I got all 3 swords put them on one character and leveled them up, did the PvP thing, did the killing yellow knight thing with sword and all 3 quests popped for the next step. Thank god I dont have to do all 3 with the PvP and the knight step.

No, just kill shit do missions and strikes once they open up. Also pvp is available once you hit like lv15on your first character. There are some hidden golden chests around but they contain worthless crap most of the time.
