Just grind out to 20. Play some crucible (PvP, its balanced so ven noobs can play too) and do your bounties for Vanguard rep. Do your dailies and do your daily vanguard bounties. They take no longer than 1 hour. Then at 20 you can start buying vanguard gear from the vendor to get you light...

Meh it was worth it for me since I dont have the time to do raids all the time. The boots and arms got me to 28, and now when I level them up it will get me to 29 and change. Now I can run more higher level shit like nightfalls, dailies and such without worrying about the damage reduction.

I don't mind it either. But the real problem IMO is the artificial cocblocks for the shards and shit. When youre in that 25-28 lv range its hard to get them to level up your shit to 27 or 28, When you can finally do the raid. And if you have one character, you can really only get like 2 or so...

Scout rifles are beast. And what's great about them is that rarely are they used in PvP so they have a slim chance of ever getting nerfed.
