I've hatched 300 eggs now, probably over half of those 5km ones, and I've never seen a Lickitung, Grimer or Abra out of an egg. Never seen a Clefairy either for that matter. Or a Lapras. I've gotten everything else possible out of eggs I think.

I don't think population has anything to do with it. I think the true advantage is that there are a plentiful amount of parks, which makes it easy for Niantic to dedicate this park to this pokemon and that park to that pokemon and they have enough to do everything. Doesn't answer my question...

I've done more visiting spots in Tokyo in the last month than I have in the 5 years I lived here before that. Basically each pokemon I needed was a new park or place to explore. Game is diabolical about getting you outdoors.
