Except numbers will matter come tomorrow, because of Gearscore. We've all seen what that did to WoW. You'd get kicked if you didn't have high enough GS. I'm not terribly worried about it, because as you mention, being a group member is a much better way to go.

After deconstructing everything from level 20 on and doing some PA farm I was able to make 6 of them and stuck with one that was a dps upgrade and has 46 percent armor break increase. Although I'm not sure I have any armor break on other things so not sure if that really helps me much...

How do I get the HE Vector pattern to try crafting it? Random drop from Challenge Modes?
